The price wasn’t bad. It was a strong & well put together toy. It is a fun toy for dog’s. I put PB in it & put it in the freezer for awhile. My dog enjoyed licking the frozen PB out of it for awhile. But, cleaning it up afterwards is a chore to get all the PB out of it.

Significantly smaller than expected May 31, 2025 Size: 6.2" MediumColor: Black Dumbbell Dog ToysAmazon Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? ) I thought this toy would fit my GSD size wise a bit more than it does due to the husky in the picture, but its very small. He actually struggles to pick it up and carry it around due to the size, so it mostly gets left unused. It does seem very sturdy and durable, but that's unfortunately mostly remained untested since its just not the most suitable for big dogs. Customer image One person found this helpful

Stimulating and great for aggressive chewers February 1, 2025 Size: 6.2" MediumColor: Dumbbell Dog ToysAmazon Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? ) We have a 2 year old pup and we were looking for mentally stimulating toys that could slow down his eating and this is a hit. Our dog absolutely loves it and looks forward to his afternoon treats in this. I will say, this is meant for dry food and dry treats, not wet food/treats because I couldn't imagine it would ever get fully clean on the inside. He has mastered this toy, rolling it around with his nose, pawing at it and even picking it up and shaking his treats out. It stimulates his mind and he doesn't get bored as much throughout the day when I'm at home. He's also an aggressive chewer and this surprisingly is standing through most of his biting. We're happy with how durable and long lasting it seems to be, most toys don't stand a chance with his chewing even with a kong! Customer image Customer image Customer image

Worth every penny! April 14, 2025 Size: 7.8" XL LargeColor: Black Dumbbell Dog ToysAmazon Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? ) I don't think we have had a toy that just all three pups adored as much as this one. So far it's stood up to the tugging, biting, and wrestling from all three pitties. They will take it and get the others to play tug-of-war, or they will go lay down somewhere and just gnaw on it like it was going to release a prize.
I admit I was concerned with the little chess piece designs in the rubber when I first saw them. I was just sure those would be the first to go. I am impressed, but none of them have so far been able to remove any of the details to it. They have tried their best but this doggie dumbbell is just too resistant to their strong jaws and relentless chewing. I think I need to buy a couple more to make sure everyone has one of their own! Definite winner!!Customer image

Great dog toy April 18, 2025 Size: 7.8" XL LargeColor: Black Dumbbell Dog ToysAmazon Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? ) So we have a medium size pitbull mix who normally shreds dog toys within minutes. This one is holding up really well. I think it may be partly due to being hollow, so when she bites down it gives in and there isn't as much of a desire to bite pieces away. She was super excited for it right from the start, and adding some treats to the middle made it that much more engaging. She will lay there contently chewing on it for 15-20 minutes. The nubs and texture on it are great for cleaning teeth too. Not exactly sure what's up with the chess pieces embedded in it, but they do not come out, so no need to worry about small pieces or anything. Overall we're impressed with it and would recommend.

More durable than I thought it would be January 21, 2025 Size: 6.2" MediumColor: Dumbbell Dog ToysAmazon Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? ) This dog toy is much thinner than I expected and did not feel durable at all. However I gave it to my dogs who tend to make short work of other non-durable toys and it's lasted over a week so far. So give it a chance if your initial impression is much like mine.
I think one of my dogs actually thinks she can remove the chess pieces as she keeps chewing around those parts specifically. But they are part of the toy itself. I do wonder if there is any significance to the design because it's a curious choice.Customer image

Needed to increase the holes for kibbles to come out January 8, 2025 Size: 6.2" MediumColor: Dumbbell Dog ToysAmazon Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? ) I am giving the PETOPIA Dog Chew Toy only three stars. While it works after a bit of trimming, I think that modifications shouldn't b e necessary, or easier.
First, I had to enlarge the openings for the kibbles to be dispensed. And that proved to be rather difficult due to the thick rubber and position of the openings. The vendor should either describe the maximum size for kibbles to be used, or prepare the openings for easy modification.Second, when I cleaned the toy after the first use, I found almost loose rubber foil inside the tool. Leftovers from the extrusion, I guess. Over time, the foil could come loose and potentially be digested by the dog. They were easy to cut off and remove, though. I wish that would have been detected by quality control in the factory, though.
Once trimmed, the tool works perfectly well. The dog has to work for the kibbles and the feeding process is slower. It is fun watching the dog developing techniques to make kibbles fall out. I got the small version. And as it definitely does not hold a full meal, I have the additional fun of the dog bringing me the PETOPIA Dog Chew Toy for refills.
The claim about cleaning teeth is at least an exaggeration. My dog is not chewing on the tool. It found out in no time to toss the tool around to get the kibbles out. So the PETOPIA Dog Chewing Tool works as well as other toss around feeding toys I used. But not any better.

He's not what I'd call a tough chewer, but he'll gnaw on things...and this dumbbell toy seems like it'll hold up to his gnawing just fine. Adding kibble is easy, but it does come out faster/easier than I prefer. My dog doesn't care. LOL Overall, nice toy. Nothing fancy. Just works.

Pretty high doggo difficulty level -- but also diffucult for humans to clean December 30, 2024 Size: 6.2" MediumColor: Dumbbell Dog ToysAmazon Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? ) My dog has spent 24 hours of intermittent obsession with this thing. I filled each endwith broken-up treats that had long gone stale. She is usually a hard chewer, and uninterested in anything but pieces of animal bone.
She carried this from room to room.Ultimately, even the small pieces have been hard to work out of the two holes on a barbell end. And she's a smartie. She's tried shaking it (hilarious), rolling it, slurping, working and worming her tongue in there.
After a day of play I decided it was time to get the beslimed remnants out to wash and dry the interior.
I had to use tweezers.
This is a simple, but great enrichment toy. Unlike many others, you don't need peanut butter or goo to anchor some kibble or mystery items in there. But it is hard to clean, so plan for some time around that. And to hear some really grody glorp glorp glorp while your dog sets to problem solving.
ps. The product page tells me I ordered a small. The dimensions match those in the illustrations laveled as large. I have no idea what you'll get when you order either size.

Good for treat dispensing December 31, 2024 Size: 6.2" MediumColor: Dumbbell Dog ToysAmazon Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? ) This review is for the small dumbbell chew toy and treat dispenser by Petopia. Measures approx. 6.1" x 2.75", a good size for our 32 lb pup. He is on limited activity while healing from an injury, and this helps keep him entertained. He is not interested in chewing it, but happily rolls it around to dispense hidden treats. The chess pieces caught my eye as a potential choking/swallowing hazard, but they appear to be attached to the toy, not loose parts that could be dislodged. The description says it's pineapple-flavored. While I can't verify that, it does have a mild, pleasant, rubbery scent. Customer image

Surprisingly Durable! February 3, 2025 Size: 6.2" MediumColor: Dumbbell Dog ToysAmazon Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? ) As soon as I opened this toy I thought, “Oh boy, she’s gonna rip this thing to shreds in minutes!” Yet somehow I was proven wrong!
It really IS made of extremely thin rubber, and you can twist, bend and pull it until it feels like it’s coming apart, and yet it doesn’t! Maybe that quality is what makes it so durable, I’m not sure, but it’s been almost a month and my dog, who has tremendous jaw pressure as a pit/German shepherd mix, has yet to rip it apart or even put a hole in it!She chews on the thing mercilessly even after all the treats have fallen out and I’ve used it almost every day for a month. She’s a smart dog and it wouldn’t surprise me if she refrains from destroying it on purpose because she knows treats will come out if she’s good, haha!
It’s a good size for her mouth- she likes picking it up on the bar between the two ends and trotting happily through the house to show it off before settling down to get her chew on. It’s an interesting design with the chess pieces stuck in there. I thought they came out at first but they’re just decorative, or perhaps part of the design that helps clean their teeth. The design is a little weird but it works!
My girl has ripped up MANY different kinds of treat balls, dispensers, puzzles and snuffle mats, sometimes in minutes, but somehow this one is a survivor! You can’t beat the price for the longevity you get out of it, and I’d definitely recommend giving it a try!

Not indestructible, would not recommend for aggressive chewers. December 31, 2024 Size: 6.2" MediumColor: Dumbbell Dog ToysAmazon Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? ) It is quite far from indestructible unfortunately, and I would probably only recommend it for a dog 50 lb and below. It's made of rubber, the material is on the thinner side so the toys flexible, and it is light, so you can't really throw it too far. It didn't take very long for my dog to start getting pieces off of it, within a couple hours. I'm not saying it's a bad toy, but you can't claim it's indestructible, when it's not even close. I wouldn't even consider it a tough toy. It is hollow on the inside, and you can put treats in there. I don't normally do that because my dog doesn't care about the treats, he cares more about the toy. He thoroughly enjoyed the toy, it just didn't last very long. Tons of fun January 14, 2025 Size: 6.2" MediumColor: Dumbbell Dog ToysAmazon Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? ) I recently purchased this dog toy for my Rottweiler. She loves the excitement of a treat dispenser. I’m happy with the durability of a chew toy that has stand up to her chewing. The treat-dispensing feature is fantastic for keeping her mentally engaged and letting me work from home. I fill it with small treats or kibble, and my dog spends a good amount of time figuring out how to get them out. The chew toy aspect lives up to its claims. My dog is an aggressive chewer, and this toy has withstood weeks of gnawing showing minimal signs of wear. It’s made from tough material that feels sturdy. Treat Size Matters: You need to use treats of the right size for the dispenser to work effectively. If the treats are too big, they get stuck; too small, and they fall out too easily. Holds up well to strong chewers December 30, 2024 Size: 6.2" MediumColor: Dumbbell Dog ToysAmazon Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? ) I have an English bulldog who's adept at destroying all kinds of toys. I was a little leery of this because it has more "give" to it and is smaller than the rubber toys that hold up best to him, but he's given it his all and it's still intact!
A few small treats will keep him busy for a LONG time. He can smell the treats and hear them rattle so he knows they're in there, but he has to really work to get them out. He's very food-oriented and will keep at it for a couple of hours until he gets the last morsel, and that wears him out enough that he takes a nice long nap afterward.Reviewed in the United States on

Update again: Love it ! Final update , buying another! February 10, 2024 Size: 6.78" HammerColor: HammerAmazon Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? ) See final review at the end:
This is absolutely adorable! Currently my little one’s favorite toy. She will pick it up and carry it and it make me laugh every time.Have had this a short time, and not sure how long it will last.
It states for an aggressive chewer. I guess that all depends on how long you expect it to last. It’s made it through the week, so that’s something positive.
As you can see from the picture, there is already a small bit starting to come apart.
I absolutely love this chew. It’s so cute and my pup loves it. I’m sad to say I don’t think it’s worth the high price though.
If the price were lower and it was sturdier then it would be amazing. Unfortunately I wouldn’t buy this again.
Update: so that little piece that was coming apart is still holding on. She still loves this toy more than any other. I just give it to her more often now during designated times. (Such as when she decides once in bed and the lights are off it’s a perfect time to get the zoomies) this immediately gets her attention and will distract her for a bit. Eventually I can’t stand the squeaky noice of her teeth on the rubber and take it away. It’s not a very soothing sound when you are tired lol
I still love this toy. If that little piece hadn’t have started separating I would’ve given this 4 stars, only losing one for price being a bit steep. It is totally adorable and she loves it so it’s hard for me to leave it on a negative note.
Ok, here is an update...
I have loved this. It started to wear quickly and I was worried. My dog absolutely loves this. It has been her favorite toy since the day I received it. I was very concerned since the red pieces on the handle looked as if they were just going to crumble apart.
I have been shocked and amazed, that somehow it is still holding up. There have been maybe 2 or 3 tiny red, very very small, that have fallen off. For the amount my dog chews this, and the fact that she has destroyed so many toys, I'm blown away. She's so cute with it too.
I decided to pull it up today, and am SUPER happy to see the priced dropped by over half I believe. I am ordering another one for her. She would be so upset if this was taken away. I do believe the previous price was too high. I just can't afford to pay a ton. For 10 bucks, this is a REALLY good deal. I love this toy and so does she.

Mixed Results for PETOPIA Dog Chew Toy February 4, 2024 Size: 6.78" HammerColor: HammerAmazon Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? ) For our high-energy puppy, The Meg, finding durable and engaging toys is a constant challenge. The PETOPIA Dog Chew Toy seemed promising with its claims of being suitable for aggressive chewers, made from high-quality rubber, and featuring various textures for sensory stimulation. I was particularly drawn to its potential benefits, including serving as a feeder toy for mental enrichment, aiding in teething relief, and acting as a training tool.
The toy's multifaceted design, intended to capture a dog's attention and curiosity, initially appeared well thought out. For a teething pup like Meg, the promise of soft and durable materials providing stress relief and promoting healthy teeth and gums was appealing. The additional feature of using it as a training aid for basic commands added to its potential value. However, the real test came when Meg got her paws on it. As a destructive chewer, the longevity of a toy is a crucial factor in its worth. Unfortunately, the PETOPIA Dog Chew Toy fell short in this regard. Within less than an hour of enthusiastic play, Meg managed to break off several pieces of the rubber hammer. Concerned about the potential choking hazard, I had to discard the toy, leaving both me and Meg disappointed.
While the initial appeal and intended benefits of the toy were promising, its durability did not align with the claims made by the manufacturer. Despite being on the pricier side, the short lifespan of the toy raised questions about its overall value for money. Witnessing Meg's disappointment when her new favorite toy had to be thrown away added an emotional aspect to the experience.
The PETOPIA Dog Chew Toy shows potential in terms of design and intended benefits, but its durability, especially for aggressive chewers, is a significant drawback. For pet owners seeking a longer-lasting investment, exploring alternative options with a proven track record of durability might be advisable. While it might work better for less destructive chewers, the price tag may still be a deterrent given its limited lifespan.

As you can see by my photos, it's smaller than I anticipated and didn't look great out of the packaging. The finishing of the rubber around the holes for treat stuffing is not good, very thin and the perfect spot for an aggressive chewer to get started. Indeed, this lasted about 30 minutes before I had to take it away from her and trash it. It also has a very strong rubber smell at first, so I actually wound up waiting a day and washing it twice before I even gave it to her.It only gets 3 stars because I honestly thought it would last 10 minutes, and it made it to 30. The concept is good, and if your dog isn't an absolute destroyer then this might be better for you.
It's already in the trash, so I can't recommend it personally.

NOT for Aggressive Chewers! January 2, 2025 Size: 6.2" MediumColor: Dumbbell Dog ToysAmazon Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? ) Unfortunately, this toy does not stand up to my pit/boxer's aggressive chewing.
PROS:- has nicely textured surface which likely helps clean teeth
- my dog really liked it for the two hours that it lasted
- there are two places on each end designed for treats to enter/exit (see first two pics)
CONS:
- it's fillable for treats, but none of the small treats I have are small enough for my dog to be able to get them out (and I've never seen any smaller than what I have on hand)
- since the treats are too large to come out of the openings, I considered peanut butter, etc.; however, the treats aren't isolated to each end. the toy is hollow in the middle (handle portion of the barbel) from end to end which would make it impossible to clean butters/treat pastes out of
- within 30 minutes, my dog had one end of the toy partially chewed off
- within 60 minutes, my dog had one end of the barbell almost completely chewed off
- within 90 minutes, the center handle had also been chewed off, leaving only the remaining other end of the barbell
If you have an aggressive chewer, do not waste your money on this item. Stick with the tried and true brands, like West Paw.

Not a bad toy February 5, 2024 Size: 6.78" HammerColor: HammerAmazon Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? ) Hey Everyone, Dori here. I thought this toy would have lasted for a little bit but I was just so wrong about it. Happie my furbaby chewed it up within 5-10 minutes it arrived. It was in small bits on the floor. I love watching him have fun with his toys. As long as he is happy and content that's all that matters to me. It was a cute toy too. It's not made for a super super chewer like my dog. If you have a furbaby that likes to play with his/her toys and doesn't rip things to sheds this toy is for them. Worth it, recommended.

Good texture and weight for a larger dog January 30, 2024 Size: 6.78" HammerColor: HammerAmazon Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? ) I requested this toy because I had a foster dog whose mission in life seemed to be "chew and destroy" all of our dog toys. Unfortunately, he left before the toy arrived. So, I can't speak to its indestructiblity. My own big dog has not shown a lot of interest in it, as of yet. All I can say is that I like the weight of it, and I like the texture. Some other "indestructible" toys are a very hard plastic and I worried that they could tear a dog's gums over time. This one is not like that. It is more rubbery. It is a good size- maybe about six inches long. If you have a dog on the larger size, that enjoys chewing, give it a try.

Toy probably fine, dog not interested February 1, 2024 Size: 6.78" HammerColor: HammerAmazon Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? ) My dog is toy finicky. He likes the forked, T- shaped hard bone that supposedly tastes of meat or something-- only toy he's liked over a few. This one he seems uninterested in though. It's a softer rubber than his T- bone. I got it for that reason not wanting to duplicate what he already had. Introduce him to a new chew texture. (So who knows?) I don't do the hide- a - treat thing. I think that sounds like a frustrating endeavor. So meanwhile his new toy looks abandoned and lonely. By no fault of the toy, I'm sure. Customer image Customer image

My Dog Loves this Toy February 19, 2024 Size: 6.78" HammerColor: HammerAmazon Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? ) My dog loves this toy. From the moment it was given to her, she ran through the house, throwing it up and catching it. When we throw the toy, she runs after it and brings it back to us - a new behavior in our house. She had never learned the "drop" or "leave-it" commands before, but we were surprised how quickly she learned them with this toy. The next day, she found a treat in it, which made her very excited. To our surprise, she still retrieves the toy even when it's empty. She chews on it but hasn't been able to chew off any pieces like she has with other indestructible toys. Normally, those toys only last a few weeks before she tears them apart. She likes to wait at the door with her toy when my husband comes home. She demands attention with it, and we can't ignore her. This toy is definitely helping her get the exercise she needs during the winter months. This toy has changed the way we are now training her. Instead of treats, this toy is her reward. A favorite toy for my dogs February 2, 2024 Size: 6.78" HammerColor: HammerAmazon Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? ) I have two very picky dogs when it comes to toys. They love to chew things they shouldn't, and to get them to chew on a toy sometimes proves pointless. If I do happen to find a toy they like to chew on, it is usually destroyed within a couple of minutes to a couple of hours. Seriously.
This little hammer toy has already lasted several days. You can put kibble in it, but my dogs like it without. A bonus for me. Each dog has their own crate, and we try to trade off toys for them every other day. When either dog gets this, they hide it in their blankets from the other, or they guard it with their paws when they are through chewing on it. It is quite impressive how these dogs go to great lengths to sneak it from each others crate then hide it.This toy is a keeper and my dogs are happy.

At First, Indifferent; Now She Loves It! January 31, 2024 Size: 6.78" HammerColor: HammerAmazon Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? ) When I first offered this toy to Parker, she examined it for not more than 30 seconds, then walked away. Little, if any, interest.
So I stuffed some treats into it, threw it on the floor and she came and expressed slightly more interest, but then abandoned it again.I was very surprised when, about 30 minutes later, I found her chomping on the toy, playing with it and utterly determined to get to the treats inside. She was willing to play tug-of-war with me (she won), and now is almost obsessed. Obviously I have no idea how long this will last, but I'm quite confident that the toy itself will last indefinitely. It is made of very durable materials, Parker has been unable to puncture a hole or do it any kind of damage, and it feels like a toy we will have a long time.
Highly Recommended.
I hope this review was to you.

Seems Very Durable February 6, 2024 Size: 6.78" HammerColor: HammerAmazon Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? ) This dog chew hammer appears to be made very well, but my seven-month-old puppy does not seem to be very interested in it. My dog chews on EVERYTHING, and he ignores this hammer. I do not fault the product itself, so I will review the quality of the hammer and not my dog’s level of interest. The hammer is made of a very thick, chew resistant and maybe even chew proof, rubber. There is a slot to put treats in to motivate the dog to keep chewing on the hammer instead of your furniture. The hammer is made of two parts, the red handle and the blue top. While it is staying together so far, I am worried the handle and top will eventually separate. I am not sure that would be a problem, but this is my observation and concern. The hammer does appear to be durable, and I would recommend it.

Our Pup Loves It So He Can Sing The Song February 1, 2024 Size: 6.78" HammerColor: HammerAmazon Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? ) Our Husky pup loves this hammer toy so much that he made me teach him the song: “If I had a hammer, I’d chew it in the morning, I’d chew it in the evening, instead of your hand”
Yeah, he’s weird that way. But when he’s not trying to expel the treats from the hammerhead, he’s singing the song to remind us to refill the treats, or, to help him find the hammer toy, his new favorite! This chew toy is really tough also, since he’s a massive destroyer and normally he shreds toys within twenty minutes or so. This hammer has now lasted five days unscathed so we definitely recommend it.

great toy for your pup! February 3, 2024 Size: 6.78" HammerColor: HammerAmazon Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? ) Click to play video Love this toy! Our pup had a good time with it and we were looking for something other than a Kong to give him for treats. This works great and is not so complicated that he can't get to the treats. But it keeps him active.
In the video you'll see it's very sturdy and very durable. For the investment, this is a great toy for a curious pup who just wants to chew on something that won't break apart. Great for teething puppies!Customer image

I'm thinking of getting the Black Dumbbell Dog Toys option as a welcome gift for a new rescue pup's arrival next week. Are all the colors made from the same durable, food-grade non-toxic rubber, or is there any difference in texture or appeal between them?
Rstackers said it wasn't for aggressive chewers, but Jennifer found it durable for power chewers. My German Shepherd is a serious chewer – should I definitely opt for the 7.8" XL Large size to maximize its chances of survival, or is the 6.2" Medium surprisingly tough?
For those who use the hollow ends to hold treats, besides frozen peanut butter, what other creative (and easy-to-clean!) fillings do you recommend? Any tips for making the post-play cleaning process less of a chore?
I'm interested in the 'Hammer' style for my dog's training sessions. Is it available in the 'Black Dumbbell Dog Toys' color variant? Also, does the 'Hammer' shape offer any specific dental benefits over the standard 'Dumbbell Dog Toys'?
Wally mentioned a strong plastic smell. For those who bought the 'Hammer' or 'Dumbbell Dog Toys' – did the smell dissipate after washing, or was it a persistent issue? I'm sensitive to strong odors for my pup.
Thank you for your valuable feedback! We're thrilled to hear so many of your aggressive chewers are enjoying the Pet Heavyweight Dog Chew Toy. We understand concerns regarding its durability for the most powerful chewers and the importance of selecting the correct size. To ensure the best fit and maximize the toy's longevity for your unique pet, we strongly recommend consulting the detailed sizing chart available on the Amazon product page. Choosing the appropriate size is crucial for optimal performance and your dog's safety and enjoyment.
J Wilson said 'So Far so Good!' after a week, which is promising! How does this 'Durable Dog Training Toy' hold up after months of daily chewing for truly 'aggressive chewers'? And for those using the treat feature, is it truly easy to clean the 'hollow ends'?
I saw one review mentioned their dog tore a piece off quickly. For those with super aggressive chewers, do you find the '7.8" XL Large' dumbbell holds up better than the '6.2" Medium' size? My bully breed can be quite intense!
Wally shared a great tip about freezing PB in the toy! For those who use treats like peanut butter, what's your best method for thoroughly cleaning the 'hollow ends' without it becoming a 'chore'? Any other creative treat or training tips for this 'Heavyweight Dog Chew Toy'?
My dog loses interest in toys quickly. The description mentions 'hollow ends to hold treats.' Do your dogs stay engaged for a long time trying to get treats out, or is it more of a short-term distraction? Looking for something that really keeps them occupied.
