Product Overview: What You Need to Know
The Amazon Basics Ultra-Soft Plush Cat & Dog Bed & Crate Pad is a straightforward, no-frills pet bedding solution focusing on plush comfort.
What is the Amazon Basics Pet Pad?
Essentially, this is a soft, rectangular cushion made predominantly of polyester. It features a tufted design, which theoretically helps keep the stuffing (polyester fiber filling) evenly distributed. While available in various sizes, the standard versions are generally deep enough (around 3.5 inches when fully fluffed) to provide a soft barrier between your pet and a hard surface. The overall aesthetic is clean and neutral, typically featuring a light or medium gray plush top and a black, sometimes slightly slick, nylon-like bottom.
Who is it Designed For?
This pad is highly versatile. It’s ideal for:
- Pet owners practicing Soft dog mat for crate training, as the dimensions are carefully calibrated to fit standard crate sizes.
- Owners of senior pets or small/medium breeds (like a Havanese or Pug) seeking a cozy spot on a window sill or a corner of the living room.
- Those looking for an affordable, temporary, or secondary bed, such as a Lightweight dog bed for car travel or office trips.
Key Selling Propositions
The primary appeal of this product revolves around three factors: affordability (often priced around $15 for smaller sizes), the immediate, irresistible plush softness that pets adore (users report dogs loving it instantly), and the advertised ease of cleaning, positioning it as an *easy clean dog bed for incontinence* and general messes.
Deep Dive: Comfort, Sizing, and Materials
For a budget-friendly bed, the Amazon Basics pad consistently earns high marks for comfort—at least initially. The soft, fuzzy top layer, often described as “luxurious” or “like a cloud,” is universally appreciated by pets.
The Plush Factor: Why Pets Love It
The plush polyester fibers provide immediate warmth and a sense of nesting, making it an excellent *Cozy indoor dog cushion for senior pets*. Many pet owners, including those with fussy dogs, note that their animals gravitate instantly toward this pad, sometimes preferring it over more expensive memory foam options. The material is soft to the touch and invites immediate lounging.
Sizing Guide and Usage Scenarios
One of the bed’s strengths is its range of sizes, which allows it to function perfectly as a crate liner. The large sizes (like the 46-inch option) are confirmed to accommodate giant breeds. Customers successfully use this *Amazon Basics pet bed for GSD Great Pyrenees* (German Shepherd Dog).
- Crate Use: The rectangular dimensions are excellent for filling the entire floor space of a metal crate, eliminating the uncomfortable wire bottom.
- Lounging & Travel: Due to its lightweight and flexible nature, it can be easily rolled up for travel, making it a highly Affordable pet bed for travel. It is also praised as the perfect Pet bed for window sill lounging, especially for cats and smaller dogs who like to bask in the sun.
- Support: While plush, it is important to manage expectations regarding orthopedic support. As noted by customers with larger or older dogs (like 100lb Bullmastiffs), the padding is not thick enough for sustained, all-day support. It is generally regarded as cushioning, rather than deeply supportive.
Durability and Practicality: The Machine Washable Debate
The true test of any pet bed, especially one used for crate training or by senior pets, is its resistance to wear and tear, and its performance in the wash. This is where the Amazon Basics pad sparks some conflicting reviews, highlighting potential quality control issues over time.
Washing Concerns vs. Success Stories
The product is advertised as machine washable, a huge draw for the *easy clean dog bed for incontinence* crowd. However, customer experiences vary wildly:
- Success Stories: Many owners successfully wash and dry the pad regularly (some washing every two weeks) using gentle cycles, reporting that the pad retains its shape and cushions well. Air drying is a frequently recommended tactic to preserve longevity, though some use low tumble dry settings effectively.
- Washing Failures: Conversely, several long-term users reported significant issues: the internal stuffing shifts and clumps; side seams split open (often in the washer or dryer), releasing stuffing; and in newer versions, the outer plush material begins to “shed” or fall off, leaving bare patches after only a few washes. One serious concern was a customer who reported washing the pad and realizing the label on their unit said "Do Not Wash," suggesting an inconsistency in product quality or labeling across different batches.
The takeaway? For optimal results, use a large-capacity washer, a delicate cycle, and prioritize air drying, especially if you want the bed to last for more than six months of frequent cleaning.
The Chewer Problem: A Critical Warning
If your dog is prone to destruction—known in the review section as "dog-bed-a-geddon"—this product is a definite risk. The fluffy exterior, while soft, is not made of ballistic or chew-resistant material.
- Owners frequently report that once a bored or destructive dog finds a loose thread or seam, the bed is easily destroyed, resulting in stuffing scattered everywhere.
- The bed is explicitly not recommended for dogs that are heavy chewers. It performs best for mature dogs or puppies who are past the destructive chewing phase.
Comprehensive Pros & Cons
As a trusted friend giving advice, we need to present an honest appraisal of the Amazon Basics Cat and Dog Bed and Crate Pad, combining the rave reviews with the critical warnings.
Pros: The Pet-Approved Comfort and Value
- Excellent Value: For its price point, this pad offers quality that often exceeds other budget options. Customers frequently mention paying $15 and feeling they received better value than anticipated.
- Instant Comfort: The plush, ultra-soft top material is highly appealing, making this a favored spot for pets immediately upon unboxing.
- Crate Fit Perfection: The wide range of available sizes means these pads often fit standard metal crates precisely, providing a snug, secure, and comfortable base, crucial for successful Soft dog mat for crate training.
- Versatility: It excels as an extra bed for the car, the office, or for temporary use. It rolls up easily and is lightweight.
- Easy Spot Cleaning: For minor spills, the material is somewhat water-resistant on the underside, and many owners successfully vacuum or spot-clean between deep washes.
- Accommodates Large Breeds: The largest size options are confirmed to be adequate for 100lb+ dogs (GSD, Great Dane, Cane Corso) for crate resting, though perhaps not for orthopedic support.
Cons: The Owner Challenges
- Pillow Flattening: The most consistent complaint is that the polyester filling is thin and compresses quickly, especially in the center, leaving heavier or older dogs lying virtually on the floor after extended use (sometimes just a matter of days). Newer batches are reported to be thinner than older versions.
- Not Truly Non-Slip: A significant safety concern, especially on hard floors (tile, hardwood, granite), is the slick bottom material. The pad slides dramatically when dogs (or people!) jump or step on it, making it unsafe for senior dogs or hyperactive pups who treat it like a slip-n-slide.
- Durability Concerns for Chewers: It is highly susceptible to tearing and destruction by even moderately bored dogs.
- Inconsistent Washability: While advertised as washable, frequent washing can lead to seam failure, stuffing shifting, and material degradation. It also retains odors more than some higher-end pads, making double washing necessary for severe accidents.
- No Removable Cover: Since the entire pad must be washed, drying time is extended, which is inconvenient if you rely on the pad daily for *easy clean dog bed for incontinence* situations.
Who Is This Bed Best Suited For? (Customer Segmentation)
Based on the overwhelming customer feedback, we can segment the ideal buyer for the Amazon Basics Cat and Dog Bed and Crate Pad:
1. The Crate Trainer/Kennel User (The Perfect Fit)
If your primary need is a rectangular, soft cushion to line a crate and prevent your pet from lying on the hard, cold wire floor, this bed is a fantastic choice. It provides immediate comfort and positive reinforcement for your pet to willingly enter their crate.
Click here to purchase the Amazon Basics Crate Pad for your next crate training phase!
2. The Owner of Senior or Incontinent Pets (The Cautious Buyer)
For owners seeking a temporary, affordable, and Machine washable dog bed for large crates to manage accidents, this pad serves a purpose, provided you understand the cleaning nuances. Because it’s so reasonably priced, replacing it after serious damage or irreversible odor absorption is less painful financially than replacing a $100 orthopedic bed. Use an additional protective layer underneath for maximum safety against leakage, as the pad can sometimes absorb and wick moisture beneath it.
3. The Traveler or Multi-Pet Household (The Value Seeker)
For customers needing multiple beds, or a quick, cozy solution for car rides, camping trips, or adding a soft layer to a dog house, the value proposition is unmatched. Its flexibility also makes it perfect for adding comfort to spots like a stroller or a large cat tree.

Using the Amazon Basics Bed: Tips for Optimal Performance
Since this bed arrives compressed and has a few common quirks (like slipperiness and thinness), here are expert tips to maximize its comfort and longevity.
Fluffing and Settling
Upon arrival, the pad is often vacuum-sealed and appears much thinner than advertised. To achieve the advertised 3.5 inches of loft, you must properly decompress it:
- Remove it from the packaging immediately.
- Shake and aggressively pat the cushion to redistribute the polyester fibers.
- Allow it 24 hours to fully expand. Some users successfully throw it into a low-heat or "fluff" dryer cycle for 5-10 minutes to speed up the process.
- If you find the center flattening quickly, "knead" the cushion regularly to push the stuffing back toward the center from the sides.
Addressing the Slippery Issue
The lack of non-slip grips on the bottom is perhaps the greatest design flaw, turning the bed into a hazard on hard floors.
- Crate Solution: If used within a metal crate, the walls naturally prevent sliding.
- Hard Floor Solution: If using it as a standalone bed on hardwood, tile, or laminate, you must secure it. Customers recommend purchasing non-slip gripper pads or cheap yoga mats to place underneath. Alternatively, adhering Velcro strips to the bed bottom and a non-slip area rug is a highly effective, though manual, solution for preventing "snowboarding" dogs and protecting senior pets.

Comparison & Value Analysis: Amazon Basics vs. Premium Competitors
When evaluating the Amazon Basics pad, its performance must be measured against its budget positioning. How does it stack up against higher-priced competitors like those from Kong or brands focused on chew-proof durability or orthopedic support?
Analysis of Alternatives
Reviews frequently cite alternatives when the Amazon Basics pad fails. One user mentioned Kong beds, which range from $40 to $50, offering a tougher, ballistic-type material, often necessary for heavy-duty chewers. Another user praised an alternative brand (Opposey) specifically for having better fluff retention and washing performance.
The core trade-off here is initial plush comfort and low cost versus longevity and support.
Feature | Amazon Basics Crate Pad (Plush) | Premium/Orthopedic Pad (Est. $40-$80) | Chew-Resistant Pad (Est. $50-$100) |
Price Point | Affordable/Budget ($15-$30) | High | High |
Primary Material | Plush Polyester (soft, fuzzy) | Memory Foam or dense orthopedic foam | Ballistic Nylon or PVC-coated canvas |
Support/Thickness | Low to Medium (Flattens rapidly in the center) | High (Retains structure, vital for *senior pets*) | Medium (Focus on toughness, not ultimate comfort) |
Washability | Whole pad wash (Risks seam failure/stuffing shift) | Removable, durable zippered cover (Easy cleaning) | Often wipe-clean or hose-down resistant |
Non-Slip Bottom | No (Major flaw on hard surfaces) | Generally Yes (Often includes grippers) | Varies, but usually has some form of grip |
Value Proposition Conclusion
The Amazon Basics pad wins decisively on affordability and immediate pet appeal. It is arguably the best "placeholder" bed or secondary crate liner available at this price. However, its value decreases sharply if:
- Your pet is a chewer (it will be destroyed quickly).
- Your pet requires true orthopedic support (it is too thin and compresses too easily for long-term comfort for larger, older dogs).
- You need to wash it more than once a month (the risk of degradation increases significantly).
If you anticipate heavy daily use, frequent washing, or need robust support for an 85lb dog jumping on it, investing the extra money into a bed with a zippered, removable cover and denser foam filling will provide far better long-term value and support than repeatedly replacing the Amazon Basics model.
Longevity and Consistency: What Recent Buyers Are Saying
A recurring, crucial theme in the comprehensive customer feedback spanning several years is the issue of manufacturing consistency. Many loyal customers who loved their purchase from two or three years ago report disappointment with newer iterations.
- Reduced Stuffing: Multiple recent reviews lament that the new pads are "significantly thinner" or have "hardly any padding" compared to older versions, suggesting cost-cutting measures that directly impact comfort.
- Material Change: Some notice a change in the bottom material, noting the newer version is less durable or different from the "thinner ballistic type material" reported on earlier models.
- Conflicting Care Instructions: The presence of pads with "Do Not Wash" tags alongside beds advertised as Machine washable dog bed for large crates creates significant consumer confusion and risk, especially for those relying on easy hygiene.
This inconsistency means that while you might receive a high-quality, long-lasting product (like the customer whose bed survived washing and use for over a year), you equally risk receiving a product with less filling that fails after the first wash, a pattern frustrating for the *Durable dog bed for non-chewers* segment that expects consistent quality from the Amazon Basics line. Buyers should be aware that recent batches may require a blanket placed underneath for added cushion, especially for pets over 50 lbs.
Final Verdict: Should You Buy the Amazon Basics Pet Bed?
The Amazon Basics Ultra-Soft Plush Cat & Dog Bed and Crate Pad is a highly successful product within its specific niche: providing immediate, irresistible plush comfort at an exceptional price point, primarily for use within an enclosed space like a crate. It is a fantastic choice if you have a non-chewing dog or cat, need an affordable secondary bed, or are strictly looking for a Soft dog mat for crate training. The fact that customers happily buy second and third units—even after recognizing its flaws—speaks volumes about its value proposition and instant appeal to pets.
However, if your priority is long-term orthopedic support for a large or senior pet, chew-proof durability, or a genuinely non-slip floor mat, you should bypass this item and invest in a higher-end, denser bed with a removable, zippered cover. For those budget-conscious buyers who appreciate a good DIY solution (like adding Velcro to prevent sliding) and who prioritize a cozy retreat over supreme durability, this gray cushion remains a solid, paws-up choice.
Ultimately, the Amazon Basics pad is the perfect entry-level or auxiliary bed—a cozy spot that fulfills its mission without breaking the bank.
Conclusion
The Amazon Basics Ultra-Soft Plush Cat & Dog Bed and Crate Pad lives up to its name by offering ultra-soft comfort and exceptional affordability. It successfully serves as a cozy retreat for pets of all sizes, excelling as a portable mat and a fitted crate liner. While it struggles with longevity, especially when facing frequent washing or determined chewers, its low cost makes it easily replaceable and highly appealing. For non-aggressive pets, or for owners seeking a high-value, temporary cushioning solution, this bed remains highly recommended.

Fabric Issue August 23, 2023 Size: 46 inVerified Purchase I bought one 2 or 3 years ago that my dogs absolutely love. It's held up great through washes and LOTS of use. I got another more recently for a different area of the house and the first time it was washed and dried (gentle cycle and extra-low dryer setting), the fabric started falling apart. There are sections that lost all of the fur like material (see pictures). Hopefully the fabric being used is back to what was used on the first one we purchased; it's still going strong. I'm about ready to throw out the newer one already (maybe around 6 months old). Luckily, the price is reasonable enough that I may try another and hope it's like the first. Yes, it is machine washable February 17, 2023 Size: 23 inVerified Purchase Firstly, yes - it is machine washable. Seems an earlier version of this mat was not. I purchased the 23 x 18 for my pup. So far, I've washed it once and it did well in the washer. However, I do have a washer that doesn't have the center agitator, so if you do, your milage may vary.
The cushioning is bias toward to outer sections as after a night or two, the center seems to be pretty flattened out. The material on the top is soft to the touch and the bottom is made of a thinner ballistic type material. If your dog is a digger in the crate, I'm not confident this would last very long to be honest. For the price compared ones from Kong ranging in the $40-50 range, I'd say this is worth it. My pup doesn't mind being in the crate and doesn't try to dig it's way out! If he were, I'd say bite the bullet and get the tougher Kong ones or go without a mat.
I liked the first one I received so I bought a total of three for both of my crates and an extra if one ends up in the laundry.

My dogs loved the bed, but I am returning them... May 28, 2022 Size: 35 inVerified Purchase If my three dogs were writing this review - 5 stars, paws down. All three laid down on the new pillows and were napping within minutes. When my gang is happy - I'm happy. However, I will be packing up all three and returning them. I purchased these beds for the kitchen, because I have four shadows instead of one. Since my kitchen floor is granite, each bed is on a non-slip rug. However, these beds are very slippery on the top and bottom; and not safe for my old guy, Harley Davidson (14 years) or for me (8+ in doggie years). My two young hyperactive pups have discovered that running and jumping on the beds is like snowboarding. They ride the beds across the kitchen floor into the nearest wall, chair, door, or any senior person or dog in their flight path. These beds have received high ratings and Amazon's stamp of approval. I believe these beds would be great for kennels, crates, or (maybe) carpeted floors. In conclusion, I will be replacing these beds with three non-slip beds I found on Amazon. I decided on a rating of "4" - my "3" for safety and "5" for my happy sleeping puppies. Part 2 .... a couple of weeks later. I did not return the pillows because my dogs really luv them. My solution - I purchased velcro to secure pillows to non-slip rugs. So, I'm updating our rating to a solid 5 Stars. 14 people found this helpful

Great priced and very soft but..(ORDER ANOTHER!) September 10, 2020 Size: 35 inVerified Purchase Just got it today, seems really nice! My dog is. 100lb female bullmastiff and she does fit on the 35in. I didn’t get it as a bed for her, but as a cushion for inside her stroller and this was the size that would fit inside it. But until her stroller gets here we just put it down in the living room, it seems like it’s really good quality, I will say the bottom is slick so on wood/tile floors it will slide.. I’d also say for a larger dog 40lb plus I wouldn’t really think this would give them the support they need for an actual “ bed “. Forsure for a bed for a kennel, car, stroller ect.) but definitely would suggest something thicker and more padded for support for those med-large-giant breeds if it isn’t here n there not extended periods of time use. — Will say this is a great price to for the softness & pretty plushy. Attached photo to show 35in with my 100 pound bullmastiff.
Just ordered another the 42in, it’s great it’s long and big for her as the other one was for her stroller. I figured until her B.B was here I’d pick her up another one of these but bigger for her to actually lay out comfortably & figured for the price this was great to put in the backseat of the car or just an extra bed. Still stand with my review as I wouldn’t use this a everyday all day kind of bed for a larger dog but the quality is there for a bed as an extra one or small dog or crate bed for a few hours.Customer image

We’re using this, but with CAUTION! September 28, 2022 Size: 35 inVerified Purchase ABSOLUTELY DO NOT STEP ON THIS BED! The lack of a traction on the bottom makes it slick as ice on our hardwood floors, I nearly fell. I threw it down on our carpeted floor and I was surprised it continued to slide around! So I absolutely would NOT recommend this as a stand alone bed. However; we are keeping it because when it’s in my dogs crate, it fits perfectly and the four walls keep it from sliding around a lot. It’s plenty fluffy with padding, so much so, that my new 40lb puppy voluntarily, nicely, settles down in her crate for the night. I like the way the bed came packaged, very simply in an inner bag and flat box. See my profile for reviews of the other two dog beds we bought at the same time as this one. I don’t know how it will hold up to washing because I haven’t had to yet. It’s durability will be the test if we will buy it again, but again, for crate use only. EDIT: I bought three different dog beds at the same time. Don’t bother with this Amazon Basics one. My dogs preferred the Opposey brand one with the long plush “fur” (see my last two pictures). I have not received any compensation whatsoever for my positive feedback on the Opposey brand. I give it 5 stars. I have sent the Opposey brand though the wash 5 times now (my cat is showing his new dog displeasure and marking it) and it comes out of the drier even fluffier than when it went in. My dog loves this bed. November 30, 2022 Size: 40 inVerified Purchase She is a 60 pound Labrador with some senior issues and loves this bed. She did not get off it for the entire first day after it arrived. I understand there may be some issues if you attempt to wash it in the washer, so I'm not going to do that. I'll simply vacuum it or shake it or whatnot to avoid it falling apart. For such a low price, one cannot expect to be able to subject it to the washing machine/dryer without problems. But it is soft and comfortable for her and not a stiff, rigid mattress. These things are disposable hence the low price. 4 people found this helpful

Inexpensive & our girl loves it. October 6, 2020 Size: 40 inVerified Purchase Our Aussie is medium sized and weighs 50lbs. She has a bed in her kennel and usually loves sleeping on our rugs, but I wanted a pet bed that fit next to our bed. This one is the perfect size for us. I used lavender enzyme pet spray on it last week to freshen it up and then left it out in the sun to dry and air out for a couple hours and it looks great and is fresh smelling again. Our girl gets a bath every other week though as she loves water and loves to get dirty too so there wasn’t a huge need for deep cleaning this bed. I don’t know how well it would do with deep cleaning. This is a inexpensive good, soft, thick pet bed that I would buy again for our girl. She still spends a lot of time sleeping and playing on our bedroom rug, but I’m still happy I got this for her to have her own space when she wants it.. and when I want her out from under my feet. I wanted a bed that would fit in our window box, so when she climbs in there to watch the squirrels/birds, she'll be able to lay down comfortably. This bed was exactly what I was looking for, and she loves it! Sometimes she even climbs into the window box to lay on it and go to sleep or just to have a little secluded spot to chew on her toys. Soft and fluffy July 18, 2022 Size: 40 inVerified Purchase Pros....This bed is soft and fluffy, the cover is luxurious, and the "button" style stitching works to keep the internal stuffing in place.
Cons...it is a bit smaller than advertised and doesn't go all the way to the sides and front/back of the crate; because it is so fluffy, it takes a VERY LONG TIME TO DRY when laundering! That is not a good thing when beginning crate training for young puppies and you have to wash the bed often; also, it retains the odors a bit and you have to run it through at least two wash cycles...even when using urine eliminator and pet odor laundry boosters.7 people found this

This is not machine washable, despite what people say. April 26, 2023 Size: 40 inVerified Purchase Click to play video I've purchased four of these beds. My dog has severe bladder inflammation that leads to urinary incontinence. She wets her bed pretty frequently. The first two beds I purchased were so that I could switch one out when the other was being washed. I followed the directions on the tag, and it seemed to be okay. When I popped it in the dryer, there was a black powder that starting coming out of the dryer vent. I immediately threw that one away, assuming it was faulty.
The second one, when my baby girl had an accident on it, was out on the open floor. I don't know how else to describe it. It's both "water-resistant" and absorbent at the same time. A pool of urine settled underneath the bed. When I picked the bed up to try and wash it, it was saturated with urine. I had to throw it away, because it was dripping in urine, and it had absorbed the moisture and the smell. The third one was actually washable. When my baby girl had an accident on it, I patted dry as much as I could, and threw it in the washer. It washed and dried fine, without any random debris or excess lint. However, it reeked of urine. I mean, it made my washer and dryer smell like urine. I had to have my apartment maintenance do a professional cleaning of the washer and dryer to get the smell out. The bed smells so bad, it gave one of the workers a headache. THIS BED ABSORBS EVERYTHING, INCLUDING ODORS.
The fourth one is being returned... I'm staying away from this bed. It's not worth it.

Reduced Quality May 14, 2024 Size: 23 inVerified Purchase This bed has been available for a while on Amazon, so the reviews I feel are misleading for the current product. I bought this exact bed two years ago. It’s held up very well, but the stuffing has started to collect on the sides so the center is pretty thin. It’s held up well, so I decided to replace with a brand new one. Unfortunately, the most recent version is significantly thinner (I’d estimate 1/2 the filling). Now the entire pad is equal in thickness, but at the level that I was replacing the old one for. I would have rather paid more for a replacement of the original. 8 people found this helpful

Dogs use them sometimes... October 6, 2020 Size: 35 inVerified Purchase The dogs seem to like these beds when they are really tired. Not that they have much choice. The beds have a nice feeling to the cover with a faux fur type fabric. To wash them, you have to place the whole bed into the washing machine. They feel like they will last. Only washed them once so far with no issues. They feel a bit thin on the amount of stuffing. Since the beds are relatively thin, I think these beds would be better suited to being used with a crate. In a crate, these beds would not reduce the overall height of the crate and allow the dog to have something to lay on. I have two boxers who will lay down on just about any surface. As more mature dogs (5 and 6 years), they are not picky about the beds.

Very soft and comfy! Yes, I tried it out. June 28, 2020 Size: 46 inVerified Purchase First day and Luna loves it. She actually forgot about her other dog bed which was HER place so I’ll leave both out and she can choose. It seems durable but then again our doggo is pretty gentle, so we’ll see how it holds up. I checked the stitching and skimmed my hands over pretty strongly and there was no shedding which made me happy. Very VERY soft and needed some fluffing when I opened it because it was delivered in airtight packaging. I threw it in the dryer on fluff mode for 5 minutes and it fluffed right up (my dryer is from 1970s so no you don’t need a special dryer). No weird smells. Only downside is there are no zippers to take the cover off to wash/dry and since my appliances are ancient I will likely be going to laundry mat to use a bigger machine to wash and dry this bed every couple of months. But anything for our Luna so if she loves it I love it. Customer image 2 people found this helpful

The pictures definitely makes it look thicker and more plush. Don't get me wrong. I wouldn't consider it thin, but it's not plush like the picture. I wish they put more stuffing in it and I wish it was more EVENLY stuffed. One side of it seemed thicker than the other, but I "kneaded" the stuffing to move it around. But you get what you pay for. Some people have complained that the label says "Do Not Wash", but that might have been an old product or wrong label because mine said that you can wash it: Gentle cycle and low tumble dry. 4.5 stars October 14, 2020 Size: 23 inVerified Purchase I'm deducting half a star because the underside of the bed is slippery and it would ideally have a non-slip material instead. Does fit into a crate, but we leave it out and our 12 lb chihuahua mix uses it to lounge and eat her treats on it. If she's hyper and running between her favorite spots with a toy, this bed will slide across our hard wood floors when she pounces on it. Doesn't bother her, but it means the bed migrates around the living room. It's very plush and soft, like a stuffed animal. I would avoid if your pet likes to destroy stuffed animals, but otherwise I think this is a good bed for the money and would be great as a crate liner.

About six months later, another pad end seam opened in the washer, padding all over the place. The bottom fabric is too frayed for repair.
So, with these results after light use and washing, I'm going back to using old towels for crate pads as the remaining pads open and start losing padding.5 people found this

Another thing to note is that this bed seems virtually indestructible. Early on my dog was obsessed with pulling this out of his crate and shaking/ripping into it however even with his continued biting and pulling and dragging around the house it does not have one hole in it and the surface material doesn’t pull out. I assume that since these were made for crates they didn’t pay too much attention to the bottom because it is definitely NOT a nonslip material because this thing will slide over any floor especially hardwood. A couple of important things to know before you order this dog bed... December 13, 2020 Size: 23 inVerified Purchase For the price this dog bed is worth it. (1) BUT the bottom of the pad is not grippy. That means if you step on it or your dog races and jumps on it, it will slide. Because of this I use it on the concrete garage floor when my old dog just wants to sun himself while I work. (2) The other thing to know is that the padding is rather skimpy. I suppose appropriate for the price but you'll need another pad on top if your dog is old or arthritic. There is no give to the padding. A simple press and you're feeling the ground. This is definitely NOT a soft bed pad.

Didn’t hold up well August 18, 2024 Size: 29 inVerified Purchase I got the product out of the packaging to let it fluff up and my dog ripped out a seam within the first minute. Wasn’t as durable as I had hoped. Customer image 7 people found this helpful

My dog tries to scratch it up everyday...but still no holes! January 13, 2022 Size: 23 inVerified Purchase I bought this almost two years ago. My dog likes to scratch at it and drag it around the room daily. I have yet to see any tears or holes. The only reason that I didn't give it 5 stars is because it said not to machine wash it, so I haven't. But hosing it down and keeping it outside to dry is a pain in the rear, especially in the winter. I may experiment with washing in the machine because the price is very reasonable.

My dog loved it! July 20, 2024 Size: 40 inVerified Purchase The product is great. Although it came folded up so the foam has ridges in it. I put some heavy coffee table books onto it and the foam went down to normal Height. All in all when I take the coffee table books off of it, my dog curled up right in the middle of it and fell asleep.

Second time buying August 6, 2024 Size: 35 inVerified Purchase This is the second set of these exact item we’ve purchased through Amazon. They last us a couple of years with every day use. We have two large Rhodesian Ridgebacks and we use these in their crates for padding. They wash well, but can take a while to dry, but after having them and being laid upon by 110lbs of Ridgeback, the stuffing gets impossibly flat so we know when it is time to reorder. They fit our dogs large crates and in the summer we cover the pad with a small bit of sheet fabric that we can wash weekly, almost like a duvet, in between washing the pet beds. 7 people found this helpful

Perfect for elderly pet bedding! March 9, 2023 Size: 23 inVerified Purchase I buy the small size for my big old Maine Coon cat. He loves them and it eases my mind, knowing that he is comfortable in his old age. They are easy to clean and stay in place. It's not just a cheap, thin pad that lumps or seperates. It has the perfect loft of about 2-3", and cradles my buddy so he doesn't slide or slip off of it. Since he's a Coon Cat, (loves to "hold hands"), he loves to grab and hold onto the soft edge while he sleeps. Your fubabes will have their own comforting bed and your wallet won't empty! As for size, the small is perfect for any pet 30lbs or Under. It's just a bit smaller than a standard bed pillow, for a size reference. If any of that applies to your pet, give these a try! 5 people found this helpful

My dog loves this multi-purpose bed/mat February 8, 2023 Size: 29 inVerified Purchase This item is called a "pet bed" and a "crate pad" -- and it's good for both purposes. It's fluffy and soft, just like my dog likes it. And it puts a barrier between him and the cold, hard floor. It's perfect for his dog tent which collapses to a mere inch for travel, and the crate pad travels well with it. I know that no matter where we are, I can secure him in his tent and he will be comfortable with this pad. We've had it for a while now and it hasn't lost it's shape nor has it fallen apart. It now has a small hole or two from my dog clawing at it, but it's held up well even to that abuse.
I wish Amazon would make it easier for us to leave this review page and get to the actual product page. A simple link would work. Sometimes I need to pull the page up so I can read the product description and specs.Reviewed in the United States on

Fair bed February 19, 2025 Size: 46 inVerified Purchase Good size bed for our male German shepherd, I have noticed over time the filling on the inside likes to favor one side though which makes it’s lumpy. Decent quality, wouldn’t buy again. One person found this helpful

Good at first but stuffing came out in washing machine February 23, 2024 Size: 23 inVerified Purchase At first, this seemed like a great bed for my two Morkie puppies. It is very soft and fluffy, and the puppies love it. I purchased two, so they would have one to use while the other one was being washed. According to the item description details, these beds can be machine washed and dried. So far, one of the beds has held up fairly well, except for the stuffing shifting to one side. This is a minor problem and the stuffing can be pushed around to be more evenly distributed. The major problem is with the other bed, which came apart at a side seam and much of the stuffing fell out in the washing machine. I gathered it all up, put it back inside the bed, and sewed up the side seam. The next time I washed it, the bed split apart in a different place and again the stuffing came out in the washing machine. Again, I restuffed the bed and sewed up the hole. This happened a third and fourth time, and now the "fluff" on the outside has started coming off the bed as well. Large portions of the bed are now fluff-less. Please check out the photo to see the bare fabric where the "fur" used to be. This is just one small area, but there are bare spots all over the bed. Every time I wash the bed, there is a handful of fur in the machine. Sadly, I cannot recommend this product. Customer image 3 people found this helpful

Soft but a bit thin. My dog likes it. October 15, 2023 Size: 35 inVerified Purchase Like a similar dog bed I bought recently from another vendor, this is decent for the price, but since it's a bit thin padding-wise, if you have a big or heavy dog and are putting the bed directly on a hard floor, it might be too thin for elbows, etc... IMO. My dog is 50 lbs and she likes the bed, but I actually just use it on the carpeted floor of my truck, which isn't quite as hard as a tile or hardwood floor for example.
I'd give this a solid B- for the apparent quality vs. price. JMHO of course... you might disagree. :-)Reviewed in the United States on
