Majestic Pet Bagel Bed Overview: Design and Materials
The 40-inch Majestic Pet Bagel Bed is specifically engineered to cater to large dogs (up to about 70 pounds, although many owners of heavier dogs utilize it successfully for curling). Its design is far more than just aesthetic; it’s rooted in providing superior comfort and orthopedic benefits.
The Anatomy of Comfort: High-Loft Fill and Poly-Cotton Blend
The core of this bed's appeal lies in its filling and shape. Unlike cheap beds filled with low-density batting that flattens quickly, the Majestic Pet bed utilizes premium high-loft polyester fill. This generous stuffing ensures that the central resting area remains plush, resilient, and keeps your dog’s joints elevated off the hard floor. The volume of the stuffing is so impressive that owners frequently describe the bed as "poofy" or "almost commercial grade."
The exterior uses a durable poly-cotton blend, which contributes significantly to its reputation as a durable tough material dog bed. While some reviewers note this material feels slightly stiff or like a "light canvas" compared to softer, high-pile furry donut beds, this stiffness is the secret to its longevity. It stands up remarkably well to the natural "nesting" behaviors—the pawing and digging that many dogs engage in before settling down.
The base is one of the bed’s unsung heroes: a waterproof 300/600 Denier material. This robust layer ensures that if accidents happen (whether from a puppy, an elderly dog, or spilled water), the moisture is contained and protected from seeping onto your carpet or hardwood floors. This is a critical feature, positioning it as a reliable pet bed with waterproof base.
The Calming Effect: Bolsters, Spine Support, and Pet Psychology
The term "calming dog bed" is often used loosely in marketing, but the Majestic Pet Bagel Bed’s design actively promotes relaxation, especially for large breeds that benefit from external support.
Intelligent Bolster for Perfect Posture
The signature feature is the ring of thick, integrated bolsters that wrap around the entire circumference. These are not flimsy sides; they are densely packed with stuffing, maintaining their height and shape even after months of use. This continuous pillow serves a dual purpose:
- Head and Neck Support: Dogs, particularly larger breeds like spine support dog bed for labs, naturally seek a place to rest their heads to align their spine and neck. The bolster provides this intelligent head and spine support, acting as a permanent pillow that prevents neck strain.
- Calming Security: The raised edges create a feeling of being enclosed and protected, similar to a den or nest. This sensation of security can be highly beneficial for dogs suffering from anxiety, making it a true calming donut dog bed with head support. Reviewers consistently note that their dogs, even extremely picky ones, immediately gravitate toward this bed and settle in for deep, restful sleep.
For large dogs who enjoy stretching out (like the 50-60 lb dogs mentioned in the data who previously curled tightly), the 40-inch diameter offers enough central space for them to sprawl, with the comfort of having a sturdy pillow available for their head or back.
A Deep Dive into Durability and Materials
Longevity is a major selling point for the Majestic Pet bed, often cited by customers who have bought multiple units over many years. This bed is built to last, positioning it far above the flimsy, fast-failing alternatives found at lower price points.
Customers who own rough dogs, puppies in their "T-Rex stage," or chronic diggers praise the exterior fabric. One long-term user noted that it took a year of persistent digging by an older dog to finally breach the seam, confirming the material's resilience. Another highly satisfied customer, who purchased the bed multiple times over seven years, specifically relied on Majestic Beds because they are "tough and hold up," even drying out quickly when used in covered outdoor dog houses.
If you have a young, rowdy puppy or a dog prone to chewing, seeking out a durable tough material dog bed is essential to avoid constant replacements. This canvas-like poly-cotton blend is a superb deterrent against casual shredding, though no dog bed can ever be guaranteed 100% chew-proof against the most determined destructor.
If you are frustrated with constantly replacing beds and need something truly rugged for your powerful chewer, the durability of this specific line makes it an excellent investment. You can find the Majestic Pet 40 Inch Bagel Dog Bed here on Amazon.
Majestic Pet Bagel Bed: Key Pros and Cons
No product is perfect, and the Majestic Pet 40 Inch Bagel Bed offers a fantastic mix of high-end features with one significant, recurring drawback. Based on hundreds of verified reviews, here is the honest breakdown:
Pros (The Good) | Cons (The Challenge) |
Exceptional Dog Approval: Dogs instantly love it. Many prefer it over the sofa or the owner's bed, citing its snugness and comfort. | Difficult to Wash: The single biggest complaint. This model lacks a removable cover, and the large size (40 inches) WILL NOT fit in a standard home washing machine. Requires a trip to the laundromat and a commercial washer. |
Superb Support: High, firm bolsters offer excellent spine support and a natural pillow for head resting, promoting better posture. | Hair and Dirt Magnet: The poly-cotton fabric (especially in darker colors like the blue polycotton dog bed or black) is prone to trapping pet hair and debris, particularly in the deep seam where the bolster meets the base. |
Outstanding Durability: The tough, canvas-like material resists digging, nesting, and holds up well against wear and tear for years, even in outdoor/heavy-use scenarios. | Interior Clumping/Sloping: Over years of heavy use, the interior batting of the floor cushion may clump or create a slight slope, though a quick tumble in a commercial dryer often helps restore fluffiness. |
Great Value: Considered highly affordable for the quality and lifespan provided. Many owners happily replace it after several years rather than trying a different, less reliable brand. | Not Suitable for All Older Dogs: The high bolsters and plushness can make entry and exit challenging for very elderly or severely arthritic dogs, who sometimes prefer a flatter, orthopedic foam mattress. |
Waterproof Base: The denier base prevents any internal liquid mess from reaching the floor beneath the bed. | Bulky and Slow Drying: Even in a commercial dryer, drying the fully saturated 40-inch bed can take multiple cycles and several hours, making cleaning highly inconvenient. |
Choosing the Right Fit: Is the 40 Inch Size Ideal for Your Dog?
The 40-inch Bagel Bed (measuring 40"L x 29"W x 9"Th) is classified as a large size. Understanding dog behavior is key to selecting the right dimension.
- Curlers and Snugglers (50–70 lbs): For dogs like Boxers, medium-sized Labs, or Huskies around 60 pounds, the 40-inch is perfect. It provides ample room for curling up tightly within the protective bolsters, or stretching out fully while still having their head resting on the edge. This size maximizes the "cuddling effect" that aids in calming.
- Sprawlers and Giants (70+ lbs): If your dog is over 70 pounds, or if you have a true sprawler (a dog that sleeps fully extended on their side), you might want to heed the advice of reviewers and "size up." While some customers noted their 100 lb Labs fit, it was a snug fit. For larger giants like Great Danes or Newfoundlands, the 52-inch model is necessary, though it exacerbates the washing difficulty.
Remember that the dimensions include the bolster. When calculating usable space, consider the interior "donut hole" where the dog lays.
If you own a dog that is around 65 pounds and needs the space to stretch but still loves a cozy enclosure, the majestic pet 40 inch round dog bed hits the sweet spot between snugness and sprawlability.
If you have an older, large dog who needs maximum orthopedic support and a place to rest their head comfortably, this bed is a fantastic choice, assuming you are prepared for the cleaning challenge. Give your seasoned companion the ultimate comfort by purchasing the Majestic Pet Bagel Bed here today.
Critical Comparison: Majestic Pet Standard Bagel vs. Competitors
When analyzing the market for a washable bagel dog bed for large dogs, the Majestic Pet standard polycotton model presents a fascinating paradox. Its core strengths—durability, quality fill, and supreme comfort—often outperform premium competitors, yet its primary weakness is a design choice that budget beds often handle better.
Majestic Pet Standard vs. Memory Foam Orthopedic Beds
Traditional orthopedic beds often use flat memory foam slabs. While excellent for heavy, older dogs (providing stable, non-sinking support), they lack the "nesting" security and intelligent bolster offered by the Majestic Pet Bagel Bed. For a dog that loves to curl, burrow, or rest its head on a pillow, the Bagel Bed wins every time, as noted by owners who switched their dogs from flat memory foam pads to this plush design.
The Washability Dilemma: Majestic Pet Standard vs. Majestic Pet Suede/Villa Models
This is the most crucial distinction. The sheer volume of negative feedback regarding cleaning is centered on this specific "standard" (polycotton/canvas-feel) model. Reviewers who experienced cleaning hell often discovered later that Majestic Pet offers other versions (specifically the "Suede" and "Villa" lines) in the 40-inch and 52-inch sizes that do feature removable, zippered covers.
- Standard (Polycotton/Blue Model): Superior durability and chew-resistance (the tighter weave is tough, as noted by Autoharpist). Downside: Must wash the entire, bulky unit.
- Suede/Villa Models: Easier maintenance due to removable covers. Downside: The softer fabric may be less resistant to digging and chewing than the standard poly-cotton canvas blend.
Conclusion on Comparison: The standard Majestic Pet Bagel Bed is superior for owners who prioritize extreme longevity and value, and who are willing to deal with the inconvenient laundromat trips for deep cleaning (perhaps only 2-3 times per year). It is especially ideal for dogs who might tear up the zipper seams or softer fabrics of other brands. If, however, weekly or bi-weekly washing is essential for your home (due to incontinence or extreme dirt), you absolutely should seek out the Majestic Pet Bagel Bed with the removable cover.
If cleaning ease is your absolute non-negotiable factor, you might need a bed with a removable cover. But if maximum durability and plushness that lasts for a decade is key, the non-zippered fluffy donut dog bed 40x29x9 (inch) is unrivaled. If you decide the toughness is worth the trouble, secure your long-lasting bed on Amazon here.
How to Use and Maintain the Majestic Pet 40 Inch Bed
Given the cleaning complexities, proactive maintenance is vital to enjoying the benefits of this bed without frequent trips to the laundromat.
Daily and Weekly Maintenance
Since the polycotton fabric, while durable, attracts hair and dirt (especially in the bolster crease), regular surface cleaning is mandatory. Owners recommend:
- Vacuuming: Use an upholstery attachment with strong suction daily or every other day. Many users found the hair is sometimes difficult to remove fully from the crevices, but consistent vacuuming delays the need for a full wash.
- Spot Cleaning: Utilize a damp cloth and a pet enzyme cleaner immediately for any surface stains or odors. The canvas-like material wipes down well.
- Covering: Several smart owners employ a simple, large blanket or crib sheet draped over the bed. This is an excellent tactic for hair management, as you can easily wash the cover weekly, minimizing the bulk washing of the entire bed.
The Full Wash Process (The Necessary Evil)
When a deep clean is necessary (due to embedded dirt, odor, or major accidents), be prepared:
The 40-inch bed is too large for standard household washers (top or front load). You must transport it to a commercial laundromat.
- Use the largest available commercial washing machine.
- Use cold water and a gentle cycle to protect the stuffing from shifting too drastically.
- Drying is the longest part. It retains water heavily. Expect multiple, lengthy, high-heat dryer cycles at the laundromat to ensure the high-loft polyester fill is thoroughly dry and fluffed. Incomplete drying risks mold and mildew.
While the bed is technically machine washable large pet bed, this process confirms that the washability is a logistical challenge, not a convenience. The payoff, however, is a thoroughly sanitized bed that returns to its original fluffiness.
Conclusion: Is the Majestic Pet 40-Inch Bagel Bed Worth the Investment?
The Majestic Pet 40 Inch Bagel Calming Dog Bed is a top-tier product that delivers exactly what it promises in comfort, durability, and support. It is the ultimate cozy fluffy dog bed for big dogs who love to snuggle, burrow, and rest their heads on a high bolster. The massive support provided by the poly-cotton cover and high-loft fill sets it apart from competitors, earning the stamp of approval from even the most particular pups.
However, the value proposition depends entirely on your tolerance for cleaning inconvenience. If you have an immaculate home, a low-shedding dog, or are willing to utilize the laundromat for deep cleans, the incredible lifespan (often lasting 5+ years) and the sheer joy your dog finds in this bed make it an excellent and cost-effective purchase. If, conversely, you need a bed that fits into your home washing machine weekly, you must either opt for the smaller sizes or choose the alternative Majestic Pet models that feature removable, zippered covers.
For most large dog owners seeking an exceptionally comfortable, supportive, and long-lasting resting spot—a true orthopedic choice that encourages perfect posture and deep sleep—the benefits of this blue polycotton dog bed far outweigh the occasional hassle of laundry day. Give your beloved large breed the comfort they deserve and witness why so many dogs prefer this "big hug" of a bed over everything else in the house.

great bed! September 18, 2025 Color: GraySize: 40.0"L x 29.0"W x 9.0"ThVerified Purchase my dogs absolutely love this. at first I thought maybe its too soft and not like memory foam supportive, but they love it and it is a good plush fill. they love it more than sitting on the couch! i also thought it was too large but its good for my 50-60lb dogs, instead of having to curl up tight like in her donut bed, my dog is laying out flat and looks super comfy. very glad i kept it!

Great Beds, Good Quality, Durable, Lasts For Years Outside March 26, 2025 Color: GreenSize: 52 inVerified Purchase Over the past 7 years I have purchased this type of bed 3 times. I have shopped other beds and even bought other beds that did not last. The Costco beds were great because they were round but not good for outside when it's wet, despite being inside the dog house. The Majestic Beds are tough and hold up, they dry out quickly after a heavy rain and the dogs going in and out of their houses. I have learned that large igloo house has to have one size smaller then the largest Majestic size bed, while the jumbo igloo house can cover the largest Majestic size bed. Why have I had to replace them so often? One older dog was digging the heck out of one of the beds, took her a year for her to finally dig a hole in it by ripping out a seam. Got a puppy and now the puppy did the same thing after going at the seams of the older beds. Thanks pup! Over all, this is an excellent bed and I am surprised at the "Fake Spot" analyzer coming up with a B and C rating based on reviews so I decided that I needed to share my experience so people continue to patronize this seller and their products as they are durable and lasting and of good quality.

My dog loves it, but cleaning this bed is near impossible November 7, 2019 Color: BlueSize: 40 inVerified Purchase Our dog LOVES his bagel bed! We've had a few other different types of dog bed and this one seems to be the one Winston likes the most and most enjoys spending time in. It's comfortably fluffy and the bolsters are great for him to snuggle in and rest his head on. The bed isn't overly attractive but it isn't offensive looking either and aesthetically fits with our contemporarily styled living room. Our boxer/rottie mix Winston is about 63-64 pounds and we got him the 40" bed and its big enough for him to stretch out on but not so big that he doesn't get a good cuddling effect from the bolsters. We've had this bed for about a year and a half and it mostly still has its shape - the bolsters haven't collapsed but the padding on the floor of the bed has clumped a little bit. Overall I think this bed well made (with one caveat) and is a great value, and I have recommended it to friends.
My only real issue with the bed is that it is extremely difficult to clean. Pet hair and dirt easily get trapped in the seam where the bolster joins the floor of the bed, and the fabric itself is a bit of a magnet for dirt and pet hair (even with regular vacuuming). One of the things that attracted me to this bed was the fact that it is machine washable BUT the bed is so bulky that washing it requires a trip to the laundromat, several pounds worth of quarters, and hours of your time. We have the 40" bed (this bed comes in four sizes - 24, 32, 40, and 52 inches) and I needed to use the largest washer at the laundromat to wash it (which only removed some of the hair and odor) and then run in through several cycles in the drier just to get it dry enough to transport home. While the bed itself is super affordable, washing it is expensive and time consuming, and even using a commercial washer I found it extremely difficult, if not impossible, to get the bed thoroughly clean.I wish this bed had the option of a removable cover - if it was basically exactly what is it (fully machine washable) but also had a removable cover then this would be the gold medalist of dog beds. With a removable cover and machine washable body, you'd have the option to deep clean the bed when necessary but would also be able to regularly wash and clean the outside cover of dirt and hair (before it becomes super embedded in the fabric and nearly impossible to remove) easily, which would cut down on odor and prolong the amount of time between those super inconvenient but necessary washes for the inner bed.
Update: I JUST discovered that the "Suede" and "Villa" versions of the bagel bed have removable covers for the 40" and 52" sizes. If you watch the video on those product pages, you see that the bed can be separated into three pieces - the cover, the baffle stuffing, and the bed floor stuffing. It's unclear if you can wash the stuffing compartments separately from the covers (it looks like they are in a loose meshy type fabric, which suggests not), but if you can, you'd be able to break this super bulky bed down into three pieces that each just might fit in a home washing machine, which would considerably simplify washing this bed. I just ordered the faux suede bed for Winston and will review that once we try it out!

Excellent, comfortable bed that’s chew-resistant at a very reasonable price. May 31, 2025 Color: GraySize: 32.0"L x 18.0"W x 8.0"ThVerified Purchase Well-padded, comfortable and the cover is chew-resistant. I’m almost convinced it’s chew-proof, but we haven’t had it long enough to know for sure. I hate to admit how many of the expensive “furry” donut beds we went through before finding this one. Our dogs love to rip into anything with fur, so those furry beds never lasted long. When I brought this one home, our pups crawled into it, curled up and fell asleep. Very pleased with this item. 2 people found this helpful

Comfortable durable dog bed with quality bottom - June 17, 2020 Color: KhakiSize: 24 inVerified Purchase I really like this dog 24 inch bed and the 32 inch dog bed for our rescued/adopted little dogs weighing between 5 and 18 pounds because the material is durable, it is washable and does not lump up or fall apart washing it and the bottom liner is a quality grade material unlike many other dog beds where after a while the bottom cover degrades and comes apart and the stuffing falls out. I wanted a decent dog bed for our adopted little dogs which I don't have to replace every few month and MAJESTIC PET beds have proven themselves. I got the "like new" 24 inch Majestic pet dog bed for $20 so $10 below the regular price which was a great deal because you pay for cheap dog beds with poor bottom cover and material that becomes lumpy after washing for about $10 to $18 - so for $20 I got a great durable, comfortable long lasting dog bed. They had several "like new" bagel Majestic Dog beds so purchased two of them. The smallest size 24 inch is good for little dogs from about 5 to 15 pounds - I also got one medium size 32 inches for the 18 pound dog but for some reason she prefers the smaller 24 inch bed. Check for "Like New" to see if you can get a deal on any of the Majestic dog beds - my dogs love them and I am happy with the quality and durability. I do have a big washer and dryer but I do take them to the laundry place to wash them there but I dry them in my own dryer. One person found this helpful

Good but not great. January 15, 2015 Color: KhakiSize: 52 inVerified Purchase We got new sofas which aren't as comfortable as our older ones. Plus the cat and dog have both messed up the other furniture so my parents don't want them on the new one. Therefore I decided to get Kobe an actual dog bed.
Ok I've only had this for three days...but at first I wasn't as impressed. I got extra large and thought the bed might be bigger. It fits my dog fine though, but he is an almost 100 lb lab, so if I got the the large it would have definitely been too small. The center seems cushioned well, but I was hoping the sides would be more cushioned. Still overall it does seem like good quality, just not as good as I imagined.Kobe can be a stubborn dog, but I I was a little surprised when he wouldn't use it the first day. He jumped in a couple times but didn't look too comfy. I tried to get him on the bed but he wouldn't go on. He even sat on the floor next to it, but not on the actual bed.
But tonight, as he realized all the sofas were taken, he finally went on his new dog bed and it's been a few hours now, he's seemed to be sleeping on it nicely. Like I said I wish the sides were a little more cushioned, and I think it's overpriced a little, but so far so good. Hoping he keeps using this.
I definitely don't think this is his go to bed, as he doesn't seem to find it as comfy as I'd hoped, but since he doesn't really have anywhere else to sit in the family room, I think he'll grow to like this.

Very tough, good price, can recommend April 16, 2025 Color: GraySize: 40.0"L x 29.0"W x 9.0"ThVerified Purchase It's big, plush, and has quite chew-resistant exterior. It took a few days for my rowdy Lab puppy to warm up to it, but he really likes it now; naps in it every day.
What keeps this from being 5-star: the cover is not removable, and it won't all fit into a typical washing machine due to its size. So keeping it clean is a little tedious. The crevices are deep; lots of crumbs 'n' stuff get down there.Otherwise -- all great.

He’s a happy boy! January 7, 2025 Color: Palette Heathered Navy BlueSize: 40.0"L x 29.0"W x 9.0"ThVerified Purchase I bought the large (40”x29”), and my boy is a pitsky who is about 60-65lbs. It’s a snug fit, but it’s perfect when he curls up. It’s actually a great thickness, and the material seems pretty durable. He did pee on it out of excitement, and it was a pain to clean. There isn’t a removable cover (hence the 4 stars), and it doesn’t fit in our standard washer/dyer. I soaked and scrubbed it by hand and let it air dry (took about 1 day) and it thankfully came out good as new. I believe this brand does sell this same style but with a removable color. I wish I purchased that one, but I purchased this while on sale ($39), so I can’t complain, and neither is he! Customer image 5 people found this helpful

Two times the charm, still the favorite! January 18, 2025 Color: BlueSize: 40 inVerified Purchase I bought this bed back in 2014 for my 55# greyhound/boxer mix who likes resting her head on a bolster/pillow and it instantly became to favorite place. Pic one is fresh out of the package. She climbed in and went straight to sleep. It was large enough to allow her to stretch out and still had room for our cats to sleep with her.
Then there was an incident. I had no problem cleaning the bed.. when we had our larger capacity washer with no agitator.. but when we moved, i was unable to fit it comfortably into the new washer. The bed got caught on the lip of the drum and tore a gash in the bolster. i repaired it as well as i could but a lot of stuffing escaped. after some discussion, my dog and i decided she needed a new bed.The replacement was purchased in 2019 and it’s still going strong, as you can see by the pic 2. She is now 16 and has loved this bed for more than half her life.
The canvas material is fantastic, the color is perfect, it dries quickly, it’s durable. A spin in the dryer will fluff it up back it’s it full bagelness instantly. It was a fantastic investment.. twice.. for us. 100% Poppi approved!

Mid-range price, slightly better than mid-range quality. November 2, 2013 Color: RedSize: 24 inVerified Purchase As other reviewers have noted, the fabric is extremely "grabby", but we have a Boston Terrier who has short and slightly coarse hair so it isn't too much of an issue for us. If your pet has hair that is fine, soft and silky, you needn't read any further; I strongly suggest that you look elsewhere for a bed. If not, you might find yourself having to remove the stuck-on hair daily.
The fabric feels very synthetic. Our dog hasn't taken to it completely yet, and considering the soft blankets he has (and loves) to curl up and burrow in, I'm sure it's due to the fabric. According to the description it's made with a poly-cotton blend, and it feels like a 70/30 blend to me (the tag doesn't indicate). The fabric is also somewhat stiff, but I imagine this will loosen up with time. One advantage to the synthetic blend is that it will clean really, really well and I must admit that that the fabric is durable and very well-made, similar to a light canvas. As far as the feel, I'm trying to think of something common that I can compare this fabric to, but the only thing that comes to mind are my Grandma's polyester slacks. I had to knock off a star due to the grabbiness and the texture (how something can feel smooth and rough at the same time is beyond me, but that's polyester for you).I ordered the small bed in red, and it is a bright primary red as shown in the photo. Our dog is 23 pounds and the bed is a perfect fit. He likes to curl up, and he can do that with just enough room to spare and is also able to stretch out reasonably well (although not completely). If your 20-25 lb pet likes to sleep completely stretched out on his/her side, you might want to go bigger. The bed is very lofty, but that's a good thing since it won't go completely flat once it's broken in.
All in all it seems worth the $40 I paid for it. It will certainly last our dog many years, if not forever. Still, this bed wasn't my first choice; there was another bed I was considering that is made with an organic cotton exterior. If you have a bit more money to spend, you have to check it out: West Paw Design Organic Bumper 28 by 25 Dog Stuffed Bed Organic Cotton, Basil/Stillwater, Medium . It's still on our wish list. ;-)

Immediately regret buying trying to clean and launder bed! April 22, 2025 Color: GraySize: 24.0"L x 18.0"W x 7.0"ThVerified Purchase Picking out a new dog bed is tedious, you want to get it just right. After researching I kept coming back to this model. At first, I thought it was huge, but the style my pooch would love. She didn’t like the bed, even though it fit her perfectly. It isn’t skid proof, and she got scared every time she jumped in and went for a little ride along the floor! Just as I was about to return it, I came home one day and she was curled up. The bed is like her security blanket, when she’s home alone, she’s comforted in this bed. The However, the listing said it was washable, and it is, but you have to launder the entire bed for soils. I can’t believe a bed of this size and shape doesn’t have a detached cover for washing. Not only bulky, but the inner crease that gets gross with debris and hair doesn’t clean even by vacuum prior to wash. It needs hand washing or it just doesn’t clean the nooks when you have to wash the entire donut at once. Also, this bed can only be washed in a front load machine, or it doesn’t fit. And I purchased a small bed. So after I vacuum, then hand wash in the bathtub it’s off to the laundromat just to clean this dog bed. It’s truly such a deterrent, had I read more reviews I never would have made the investment. It’s surprising, at this price point, that cleaning and maintenance is such a major design flaw, and hardly the “machine-washable heaven” they specifically advertised. Plush and Sturdy Bed April 21, 2025 Color: GraySize: 40.0"L x 29.0"W x 9.0"ThVerified Purchase We got the 40x29 bed, and the dog absolutely loves it. She's hardly left it since we put it out. She's 40 lbs and about 27" from nose to rump, 21" from ground to shoulders. This bed is huge for her, but gives her enough space to stretch her legs out when she's on her side. She likes wedging herself between the bed part and the bolster part. It's been fairly easy to wipe hair off of. This bed is super thick and plush, well constructed, and a very good price for the quality! Customer image Customer image Customer image Customer image 2 people found this helpful

Corgi loves it, mom wishes it were easier to clean! June 15, 2024 Color: BlueSize: 40 inVerified Purchase I bought this bed for my Corgi. She loves it and has plenty of room to stretch out. It’s still fluffy and has no tears from her nails which is great! The only reason I’m not rating 5 stars is because it is not easy to clean which is a must when it comes to a bed a pup will be laying in daily. It’s too puffy to pop in the machine and her fur gets all down in the edges on top of stuck to everything else so I spend forever trying to vaccum it up. As a bonus though, if you have a pup that likes to hide favorite toys or bones this bed works for that too! I keep finding her cookies hidden in the crevice way up in there and it’s so cute! He loved snuggling in it so much that I bought it for my 3 dogs. The majestic bed replaced their flat memory foam beds. I bought 3 size large you can see from the pictures that my dogs love snuggling into the bed. They rest their heads on the high sides. Saint my 60 pound tripaw husky has some difficulty navigating in the bed, but it doesn't stop him. They would rather be in the Majestic bed than on my bed! Which is ok with me. If you're not sure on sizes Mia is 36 pounds and has room for her and sweet pea. My other 2 dogs are about 60 pounds each and the large is perfect. I don’t understand this bed April 4, 2020 Color: KhakiSize: 24 inVerified Purchase This bed got such great reviews I don’t understand it. When I opened the box I was so excited because the bed was really padded and I was pleased how soft it would be for my dog. It had more padding than any other bed I ever bought, so much that the bottom was rounded. But because the bottom is rounded every time my 14 pound Chihuahua jumped in the bed, she likes to lay in the edges, it would roll over and she would fall out of the bed. Also, the sides of the bed sink too much when she applies weight on it because they provide no support. The sides sink lower than the actual bed part even.
The only way she could lay in it without the bed tipping over was to push the bed up against the wall but that only provided support for the back part. She likes to get in her bed and dig in it before she lays down but since the bottom provides no traction the bed would move away from the wall and then she would lay in it and roll out of the bed again. So what I had to do was push the bed up against the wall and hold it in place with a dumbbell using it like a doorstop. I have attached a picture of this ridiculous set up. (Nevermind, doesn’t have option to attach pics for some reason). The bed is durable and I love the fabric it is made out of but it simply does not work as a bed. The small is meant for a dog up to 20 pounds but I don’t see how a 20 pound dog can lay in that bed when my 14 pound Chihuahua can’t even do it. Now I have to go through the trouble of returning it during this awful pandemic. Ugh.

Generally a great dog bed, but... June 12, 2024 Color: GreenSize: 40 inVerified Purchase Our dogs love this bed. The bottom and the bolster are padded which makes it very comfy for our older dog. The material for the top and bolster is very sturdy, but the backing on the bottom is a bit more flimsy and our younger dog tore it up pretty much the second she figured that out. She couldn't get the bolster torn up but the bottom is, alas, now stuffing free. It would be a five star product if the entire thing were all the same fabric and stitching. 2 people found this helpful

Very durable and comfy April 3, 2024 Color: KhakiSize: 40.0"L x 29.0"W x 9.0"ThVerified Purchase The fabric itself is pretty rough, but the stuffing is soft yet resilient. I've had it for about 6 months and my 70lb dog uses it every day and prefers it to the other beds I've bought him. I have a few scattered around the house and for a week I had them all in the office with us while I worked and he went for this one the most frequently. He usually prefers to be near me when lounging, but he'll go over into the other room just to lay down on this one instead of whichever other bed is in the room with me.
It's also pretty easy to clean with the lint roller. Putting it in the washing machine for a deep clean requires a large washing machine though, so that can be difficult depending on your situation.Reviewed in the United States on

The cover does not come off! November 15, 2023 Color: GraySize: 40.0"L x 29.0"W x 9.0"ThVerified Purchase The bed is quite comfy and our big dog loves it, however, I didn’t read the details of this bed and on this version, THE COVER DOES NOT COME OFF FOR WASHING. That may not be a problem for the smaller beds, but the size large bed does not fit into my regularly sized washing machine. I have to hand clean this giant bed. Other versions of this bagel bed sold by Majestic Pet (the size L that I purchased 3 yrs ago) do have zip off covers that can be easily washed. Pay attention to which cover you’re purchasing! This bed is comfy and the price is right, but I wouldn’t have purchased it if I’d known the cover doesn’t come off.

Comfortable enough for an insanely picky dog April 16, 2019 Color: RedSize: 40 inVerified Purchase I painstakingly read reviews for so many beds online until I finally landed on this one. I've been searching for a bed that is comfy enough for my dog so she won't have to jump onto the couch or bed. Since she has patellar luxation, I want to keep her as comfortable as possible and limit the jumping. Thankfully she's SUPER into this bed. She has hated almost every dog bed I've gotten her. She seems to know when I'm trying to pull one over on her and buy her something to sleep in that is designed for a dog, and not an adult human. With most dog beds she'll just dig into it and end up pulling it around the house. When she's really passionate about her hatred she'll even pee on them, despite being completely housetrained. We've had this bed for only a week or so now but she LOVES it. It's fluffy and enough in the middle so she's very comfortable there. It also has the bolsters around the edges and some cracks where they meet the middle where she can curl up or wedge her face into it. It's also heavy enough that she can't move it or drag it around the house (though she did try to do this but I guess it passed the test). I plan on updating this review in the future after we get some more use out of it. My dog is 30 lbs and we got the 40 inch. I feel the size is perfect for her because she likes to really stretch out. It’s the most cushioned bed I’ve been able to find that’s not just a flat memory foam pad. Another plus is the durability, (she likes to paw and make her bed before laying down) absolutely no tears or even scratches have been made. I love how much she loves it. Even Banjo gives it 5 stars February 29, 2020 Color: KhakiSize: 52 inVerified Purchase My review after owning this bed for about 4 months—Our dog Banjo is a pretty big boy and loves stretching out when he sleeps. He especially loves sleeping on his back. The previous “large” bed he had hardly allowed him to lay on it curled up without part of him hanging out. This one is perfect. He can stretch out and sleep in any position he wants with room to spare. If he was willing I think our 40 pound doodle could share the bed with him. The bed is super soft and in my opinion doesn’t need an additional pad or anything underneath it to support it. He even chooses to lay on this instead of our couch.
I would consider it easy to clean but I have not put it in the washing machine. My dogs are mostly indoor so it doesn’t get too dirty. I vacuum it once a week and will spot clean it. Seems to do the trick. Vacuuming is really easy with this bed and his hair doesn’t weave into the fabric. As far as durability I consider this to be durable for our dogs. They don’t tear up dog beds or anything but they do rough house with each other and after 4 months of Banjo launching his body on and off this bed it’s just as fluffy as the day we got it.
I plan on purchasing another for downstairs. This bed is well worth the cost and I can see it lasting us for a while.

Comfy bed March 22, 2022 Color: GraySize: 40.0"L x 29.0"W x 9.0"ThVerified Purchase Our 72-pound yellow lab mix loves this soft and comfy bed. I bought it for use in my little car because we were traveling a 6+ hour drive each way every other week, and the slight slope of the back seat seemed uncomfortable for him even with the dog hammock. The only issue for me is that our boy is a shedding machine, and the hair clings to the fabric like it loves the bed, too. 😂 I wrapped the bagel bed up in a large fitted sheet for easier cleaning and dog hair management. I took our little DeWalt blower when traveling and opened doors on both sides to blow the hair out daily. I’m sure the people at the RV park thought I was crazy, but it worked very well. When I get my sewing machine out again soon, I’ll sew a couple simple, custom sheet covers so I’ll have one to wash and one to keep in the bed. I’m glad our boy has this comfortable bed.

Washable is misleading at best November 8, 2020 Color: KhakiSize: 52 inVerified Purchase I ordered the super-sized 52" bed for my 60 lb pitbull and 85 lb pit/dane mix. The bed is well made and the fabric feels very durable. Size-wise, it's as described, as in massive. Both my dogs could fit in it with plenty of room left over if they wanted to, but neither of them like it very much. I think it's because the bottom isn't very soft or supportive. The bolsters around the edge are good and maintain the bagel shape (or did, until I washed it). But for whatever reason, my dogs rarely sleep in it and in fact sleep on the hardwood floor on a rug next to the bed. They actually prefer the hard floor to this bed.
Here is what I really hate about this bed:The description says washable. I suppose it might be if you had an industrial-sized washer in your house. But if you're looking for zippers to remove the cover to wash it in your household washer, you won't find them. The only way you can wash this monster is by taking the whole thing to the laundromat and hoping for the best. It took about a year to dry, or at least that is what it felt like waiting in the laundromat. And it looked really misshapen and lumpy and sad after I washed it. This is a hard no for me. Dog beds have to be easily laundered.
Also? Since you can't wash it, you'd think they would adjust the design to make it easy to clean without a washing machine. Nope, it's awful. The seams around the inner bottom are so weird and deep, they trap all the dust and fur. You can't even vacuum away the mess. And don't even think about taking it outside and tipping it over and beating it to get the dirt out. Nope, those seams suck the dirt down so deep it is impossible to get it out.
This bed is a major fail. I'm not knocking Majestic beds, I bought this one to replace a different Majestic bed they had used so much it went completely flat after about six months. I am against *this* bed. Unless you have a tiny dog and get the tiny size and can wash it at home, save yourself a ton of grief and buy something else. Both I and my dogs are super disappointed in this bed.

Why is cover not removeable?! July 12, 2023 Color: BlueSize: 40 inVerified Purchase So while my dog does absolutely love this bed, I don't imagine I will repurchase it. I compared several different beds before purchasing, it's a good price point and had good reviews and was just the size we were looking for (we purchased the 40in one for our dog that's ~45lbs). It is very well made and stuffed nicely, I especially like the bottom that keeps the bed from slipping around.
My one and only gripe is that the cover is not removable?! I could have sworn it was when I finally decided to purchase this particular bed, and also because why wouldn't it be?! Dogs are pretty gross, so that's essential on my list so I can't believe I missed that in the description. I usually wash her other bedding items once a week, so washing this whole bed is definitely not going to happen as often and I imagine it will start to get stinky even with washes. I haven't tried to wash this yet so it MIGHT fit in our washer, but I'm sure it will take a while to dry and it will be a bummer to deprive her of her favorite bed for a day, but if I have to take this to a laundromat to wash it will happen even less frequently sadly.I have some crib sheets I occasionally use on her orthopedic beds to make cleaning up messes and washing easier, so it might be an awkward fit but I'll probably try throwing one of those on this one to see if it helps.

Dog approved! July 14, 2015 Color: KhakiSize: 24 inVerified Purchase Hands down my dog's favorite bed! He looks so comfortable in it. He actually prefers this over the sofa now that we keep one in the family room for him, and he doesn't try to sneak into our bed since we got him his first one for the bedroom. I love that the base is waterproof, so if he has an accident, it doesn't spread onto the floor below. He hasn't peed in it ever, but he has thrown up in it and nothing leaked through to the rug. Along the same line, I love that the full bed can be washed and dried (not just the cover), so that I could clean it properly and remove all odors after he did throw up. Our dog is 20 lbs and the 24 inch size fits him like a glove. His first one is probably 7 years old, and it is just now starting to look beaten up (the stuffing on one side is nearly gone), granted I wash them pretty frequently which probably lowered its lifespan. I will say our dog is a cuddle sleeper (he curls up tight), which I why I thought this would work for him in the first place. If you dog likes to sleep sprawled out, not sure this would be as good of an option, or you may want to get one size up so he would have more room to spread out. It does also keep him pretty warm - in the summer I sometimes find him sleeping on the floor in front of it for 20-30 minutes before he get back into it. One person found this helpful

Huge but unable to wash January 15, 2023 Color: RedSize: 52 inVerified Purchase Well it’s huge!!! It came so overstuffed that the middle bulged out as tall as the bolsters. The bulldogs (40# each) were only able to lay in the grooves at first. My 130# newf decided he liked it so I gave it to him. It is now flattened more in the middle and acts like a normal bolster bed. The downside is that it is too huge to wash at home. And I have a very large washer! So I have it lined with a potty pad and then keep a blanket or sheet over it in hopes that it won’t get too dirty. I will be buying another for the bulldogs- they have same bed in the 40” and they are snug like sausages! Easy to wash, just put the whole thing in the wash/drier and done. No zippers and removable fillers that could rip over time.
4 years Update: I just bought the 4th 32inch majestic. The older ones are still usable after 4 years but the fluff shrank and they are irregular now. Well, not surprising after 4 years. Even though they are great sturdy beds, my dogs are getting older and I noticed they prefer to sleep on flatter and more stable beds than these now. They still like to play in them, but they are not my first choice anymore for older dogs and dogs with back problems.Customer image

Huge and Durable February 14, 2021 Color: BlueSize: 40 inVerified Purchase Two notable characteristics of this puppy bed are 1) it's huge and 2) it's made to last.
My bulldog is a huge napper and is committed to comfort when he sleeps, otherwise only sleeping where blankets are on the couches and beds. Getting his own was a big deal to us and we wanted him to be comfy. This does not disappoint. In every aspect, it's larger than I anticipated. It sits high up as it's very "full" in terms of filling. My pup loves it, he can really snuggle in on the donut wall.Second, the durability is wonderful. He's tough on all his toys and blankets and, really, everything. But this bed is definitely made of more than a cheap cotton and for that we are thankful. For the price, it's a steal. We didn't want to end up spending upwards of $100 on a nice bed that wasn't going to last the test of time. This is a solid solution to that problem.

great bed BUT...NOT WASHABLE! May 20, 2013 Color: KhakiSize: 52 inVerified Purchase OK, so when the box arrived and we cut it open, the bed practically exploded out of the box, as it was a bit larger than we had thought it was going to be! Our dog Murray however, thought it was the best thing to ever come out of a box!! Murray is a 70-lb weimaraner, and while he loves the size of the bed, we probably could have gotten a size smaller and he still would have fit in it just fine. I know there have been mixed reviews on the padding, but I think it's pretty plush and comfy and we've now had it for about 6-months and it's still fluffy and in good shape. We throw a fleece blanket on top of it because Murray likes to snuggle in (other weim owners out there know what I'm talking about!), but he'll gladly curl up in it without his blanket too. My ONLY gripe with this bed is that the bottom pillow is NOT REMOVABLE, and being that we got the gigantic size, I can't fit the whole thing in my washing machine! So far, it hasn't gotten too stinky, but I wash his fleece blanket pretty regularly and shake off and air out his bed outside once every week or two. That being said, I'd still buy this bed again, but I'm hoping they upgrade to a more easily washable version.

Quality May 15, 2019 Color: KhakiSize: 52 inVerified Purchase My review is mixed but this an excellent product!! Upon ordering this, I mistakenly bought the wrong material. I meant to order the softer faux suede. The one I got has more of a canvas feel to it. The dogs don’t seem to mind. This actually is our 2nd purchase of the XL Bagel Bed. The first being the suede like material, but more importantly for me is the fact this one does NOT have the zippered removable slipcover. Directions say to put the whole bed in the wash. Really?!! These things are huge. What kind of washing machine does this company think people own. I’m sure I could cram it it in, but I’m also pretty sure it won’t be washed worth a damn either. So now I have to take to the laundry mat. Oh well, my fault for not being more attentive upon ordering. Not sure why this company still chooses to make these larger size beds without removable slipcovers is beyond me. It’s not like you’re getting a half off price reduction or anything. Truly though, aside from these 2 negatives, these are awesome beds. My dogs love it. That’s all that really matters in the end. Just please make them all with removable covers to make for much simpler washing capabilities. 8 people found this helpful

Smaller than I thought but it works for now July 17, 2020 Color: GreenSize: 40 inVerified Purchase Just got it so my review is speaking by my first impressions. First of all I tried canceling like 10 mins after ordering because I realized I wanted the 52inch instead of the 40 inch but they didn’t accept it and returning is too much of a hassle so I kept the 40 inch. It’s smaller than I thought. My dogs both fit curled up which is great but my larger 9 month old husky mix still goes off the bed when he stretches out. The borders of the bed is apart of the 40 inches but the middle of the bed is is not completely 40 inches. The material is nice... feels like a rougher material like the kong crate mats. The color is pretty I put a black blanket on top of mine to keep it a little more clean. It’s pretty squishy not firm. My dogs so far enjoy it. Btw my shihtzu 9lbs and my husky mix is 50lbs on the lean tall side. Customer image Customer image One person found this helpful

Dogs love it January 14, 2025 Color: BurgundySize: 32 inVerified Purchase The dogs love this. I haven’t had to wash it yet so that will be the true test but it’s thick and the dogs get so comfortable they sleep soundly on it while I’m working.

Is it weird that I want to sleep in my dog's bed??? February 22, 2009 Color: KhakiSize: 40.0"L x 29.0"W x 9.0"ThVerified Purchase I looked all over for the perfect dog bed for weeks, & finally settled on the donut/bagel (large) because Marley sometimes likes to curl up, and other times likes to sprawl. This bed is the perfect combo. Fluffy & plush with no lumps or bumps. He can snuggle in by the tall sides, or lay on his side with his head & feet resting on the sides like armrests. He wants nothing more than to hang out in his bed, even carries his toys to it & dumps them in the crevice between the base & the sides. It is so soft & snuggly I am tempted to get in myself for a little nap!!
I made the right choice & am buying two more for other rooms (especially because I can't beat the quality or the price). The fur comes up easily & the cover is durable but soft to the touch. Two pieces of advice: When you first get the bed, fluff it by shaking, then put it on the ground & get in it to settle the bottom. Marley looked like he was in a boat @ first, it kept rolling side to side & he was flopping around like a fish, much to our entertainment. This will settle with a few hours of use. Also, the khaki color is a darker khaki with a hint of sage, not quite as light as the pictures show, but very neutral & easy on the eyes.

The picture speaks for itself August 4, 2024 Color: BlueSize: 52 inVerified Purchase Our elderly pittie is incredibly spoiled and will not sleep on the floor. We wanted to give him something comfortable and would last a while. Needless to say, he uses it every single day. It’s a great little bed! The only issue we have is sometimes it is “too” soft and his arthritis makes it hard to get out of sometimes. But that is more an age thing then a product thing. You can tell he doesn’t care too much. Customer image One person found this helpful

High quality product, but my dog refuses to sleep on it November 12, 2018 Color: BlackSize: 24 inVerified Purchase My dogs previous couple beds were cheap <$20 beds from petco, but he loved em. He slept in them every night and randomly throughout the day. Since he had those beds for most of the past 6 years that I owned him, I figured he was overdue for an upgrade. I read all the awesome reviews here and ended up going with this one since everyone seemed to agree on the fact that their dogs thought this was an awesome bed.
Unfortunately no matter what I do, my dog refuses to sleep in this or even lay in it for more than a minute. I’ve tried putting his favorite blanket on it (since it’s pretty stiff and not really soft), warming it up (as this material seems to stay pretty cold), giving him a treat to eat on it, etc and he just doesn’t want to stay in it. He’ll literally get off the bed, grab his blanket off the bed, and go lay down on the floor instead which really bums me out. It’s a bit disheartening as I was hoping he’d love it as much as the other dogs here did, but I’ve had to accept defeat and will unfortunately need to go back to petco to get him another cheap bed since I tossed his old worn out ones.
Quality wise, the bed seems super durable and well made. I’m only deducting stars due to the fact that my dog doesn’t like it at all.

Great dog bed August 2, 2024 Color: BurgundySize: 52 inVerified Purchase I am so happy with purchasing this dog bed. You will not be disappointed when ordering one and getting it. It is sturdy and very well made. Received it very quickly and the price that I paid it was great. I definitely expected to pay a lot more for it and didn’t have to. Love the color I bought and such great quality for a bed. Thank you so much. Very happy with it.

My dog's 2nd best friend :P July 4, 2014 Color: BurgundySize: 40 inVerified Purchase My only complaint is that this thing is HUGE so it's a real &%^@^# to wash! It does NOT fit into any standard washers, including front loaders. I've had to sneak it into the laundromat when no one is around and use the industrial washers that are like $7 a pop to get this bugger clean (also, most vacuum heads don't get my bulldog's hair out of the cover very easily - can take well over an hour to vacuum the hair off!). Would be fantastic if either Majestic Pet or some enterprising person would make washable covers for these, as I cannot find any anywhere on the 'net :( However - my dog loves this dang thing all to pieces. Got it for him when he was 9 weeks old. He's 6 months now, huge, strong, and very rough with it, and it's held up to his scratching, digging, biting, and diving on it quite famously! He has to go without for a few days for me to clean it, and when I bring it back into the room I get tackled so he can bury his face in the crevices and bark and growl for a few minutes before plopping down into a nice, cozy sleep. Remington LOVES his bagel bed! One person found this helpful

O.K. dog bed. January 8, 2013 Color: BurgundySize: 40 inVerified Purchase A few years ago we purchased the extra large version of this bed for our 90 lb. Rottweiler. I thought that it was too big, but she liked it. We recently got a second Rott. So, we decided to order the large size this time to see if it would be a better fit. The large size seems almost too small. Our older Rott just fits it, but she likes this one, too. Neither size will fit into our large capacity top-loader washer. So, we will have to take both beds to a laundromat. The older bed has navy sides with a beige bed area. This bed is burgundy (or dark red) with a WHITE bed area. Needless to say, the white will soon look like "dirty" gray. The first bed has held up well. The new puppy did eat a hole in it. However, Rottweilers can pretty much chew through anything. Overall, I wished that we had purchased the extra large size. I also wish that the bed area was beige or dark brown. Other than that, we like the bed and we would buy it again. If we have any problems with the bed, I will update this review.

Great for "Nesting" Dogs May 21, 2024 Color: GreenSize: 40 inVerified Purchase My Spanish Greyhound Matilda loves to dig at her bed and make a nest, so I wanted to find her a bed that would prevent her from tearing up the fabric while she is doing that. This is the 40'' bed and she is ~55 pounds and long/tall. She loves this bed and does not dig because it makes her feel like she is in a nest with the sides. It also gives her room to stretch out. Love the green color. Customer image 4 people found this helpful

Hard to clean September 15, 2024 Color: BlueSize: 40 inVerified Purchase The bed itself is very comfy for my dog , but the description is misleading- it’s not waterproof and very hard to wash due to bed being very bulky. I felt that there is a bit too much stuffing in sides of the bed . It is stitched very well , appears sturdy but does attract lint easy. 2 people found this helpful

Great quality for price May 13, 2020 Color: GraySize: 52.0"L x 36.0"W x 14.0"ThVerified Purchase Bought this bed for our 65 lbs Belgian Malinois after she playfully destroyed her last bed. We wanted one of the calming beds but many did not have the size we wanted, were too expensive, or didn't have great reviews. We settled on this one and our dogs all love it. For reference we've included a picture of our 65 lbs Belgian Mal (tan) as well as our other dogs who enjoy it- a 20 lbs Shih Tzu and a 45 lbs Cattle Dog. They even get in it together. It is plenty spacious for our biggest girl, which is exactly what we wanted as her hips have struggled with age and we want her to be comfortable and able to move around- which she does a lot of at night. While getting ready for the day she usually gets out of bed and out Shih Tzu beelines it to take over the enormous bed. Haven't washed it yet as it's still new and we don't have a washer in our home that will fit this bed, but we're not really worried about that. Very cozy dog bed December 1, 2023 Color: BlueSize: 40 inVerified Purchase We have a border collie that really likes this bed. He can squirm around and bury his nose in the edges, and the padding holds its loft and softness well. The only drawback is bed cover is not removable, and the Large size bed is too big to fit into a normal size washing machine.

I'm redesigning my living room and love the idea of a blue bed. The article mentions 'striking blue.' For those who bought the blue, is it a deep navy, a vibrant royal, or more of a muted tone? I'm trying to match it to some specific decor by next month.
Thank you for engaging with my review! I'm thrilled to hear so many pets are loving their Majestic Pet beds. I understand that sizing can sometimes feel a bit ambiguous, with some pet owners initially finding the beds larger or needing specific fits for crates/houses. While the plush design offers incredible comfort, ensuring the right fit is key. For precise dimensions and to avoid any surprises, I strongly recommend consulting the official Majestic Pet sizing chart directly on the Amazon product page. This will help you choose the perfect size for your beloved companion.
